A partner on the pillion seat, soft bags strapped on and a forecast that changes by the hour: that is a typical weekend for plenty of Yamaha FZ1 Fazer owners. In those conditions the rear pad earns its place. Accossato's AGPP88 in Sintered (ST) compound is its offer for such riders, and the company says the mix keeps grip high and stable from cold to hot and grips well on a wet rotor. Construction and Material Quality
Accossato builds its ST mix around predictability rather than peak bite. Cold, hot, wet: the grip level is meant to stay put. The company's usual aims for the whole range are also part of this pad, namely a long service life, restrained temperatures that stop fade from creeping in and a firm, effective stop.
Weekend for Two on the Fazer
Load a passenger and some luggage onto an FZ1 Fazer and the balance shifts backwards. The rear tyre now carries more of the load, so the rear brake can do more useful work without locking. On a greasy road after a shower, a gentle press on the pedal before the front lever is applied settles the bike and keeps it calm, which your passenger will notice. For that to feel natural, the pad has to answer in the same way every time, whatever the temperature. Riders whose Fazer only goes out solo on dry days will find the organic version kinder to the disc.
Fitment and Compatibility
In our listing, the rear caliper of the FZ1 1000 Fazer between 2006 and 2016 takes AGPP88, and the front calipers take AGPA97. The two pads in the box complete the rear. Clean the caliper piston before pushing it back, since dirt behind the seal causes sticking. Inspect the rear rotor for grooves and keep chain spray well away from it. Work the pedal until the travel is short again, then let the new pads settle with a few easy stops.
