DescriptionThe whole story▼
A retro roadster that lives outdoors and is ridden in every month of the year, like many a Moto Guzzi V7 850 Special, needs a rear brake that shrugs off rain, frost and the extra weight of a pillion. That is the idea behind the Sintered (ST) version of Accossato's AGPA28 rear pad. Its grip is meant to stay high and steady whatever the temperature, and it keeps working when the disc is wet. The V7 850 Special from 2022 to 2023 is on Accossato's list for this pad.
Key Features
- Sintered (ST) rear pads for the Moto Guzzi V7 850 Special
- On Accossato's list for the V7 850 Special, 2022 to 2023
- Grip claimed to stay high and even from frost to heat
- Designed to bite on a wet rear disc
- Steadier pedal when carrying a passenger
- Two pads in one box
- German approval documents not available; competition use
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato's case for the ST lining rests on two properties: a friction level that is high and does not drift as the pad warms or cools, and good grip on a wet disc. At the back of a V7 that is parked outside overnight and ridden to work in the rain, those are exactly the qualities that make the pedal trustworthy. When a passenger climbs on for a weekend ride, the rear wheel carries more load and the rear brake becomes more effective, so consistency matters even more. Accossato adds slow wear and resistance to fade to the list.
Rain, Frost and a Passenger
A wet autumn evening, leaves on the road, a passenger behind you: on the V7 850 Special you want to slow down gently and predictably, using both brakes. The ST pad is designed to keep its bite when the rear disc is soaked, so the pedal still does what you expect. For dry-weather solo riding, the organic OR lining of AGPA28 is the softer alternative.
Winter grit and salt collect around the rear caliper, which sits low and close to the road spray. Wash it with clean water after salty rides, and when the pads come out, inspect the pistons and dust seals for corrosion before refitting.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's catalogue names the V7 850 Special, built 2022 to 2023, for this rear pad. One box contains both pads for the single rear caliper. The front of the Special takes Accossato AGPA96. Bed the ST linings in with a series of steady, dry stops before you rely on them in the rain.
Road Approval
Accossato has not given us a German ABE or any test mark for this pad, so we supply it for racing and competition use.
