DescriptionThe whole story▼
When a Moto Guzzi Griso SE 8V 1200 is loaded with a passenger and soft bags for a week in the mountains, the rear brake is used more and in harder conditions. Accossato's AGPA29 rear pad in the Sintered (ST) compound is aimed at that kind of riding, and at owners who keep going through rain and colder months. It offers consistent grip and a steady pedal feel. Accossato lists this rear pad for Griso models from 2007 to 2019.
Key Features
- Sintered (ST) rear pads for the Griso SE 8V 1200
- Griso fitment listed from 2007 to 2019
- Constant grip hot and cold, according to Accossato
- Keeps working on wet roads
- Consistent feel with passenger and luggage
- Two pads per box for the single rear caliper
- Track use; no German ABE on file
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato's sintered mixture holds a high and constant level of grip at both low and high temperatures and keeps working when the disc is wet, according to the manufacturer. For the rear of a Griso that is often ridden two-up or with luggage, that consistency is valuable: the rear brake may be dragged on long descents to support the front, and a pad that does not change character as it heats up makes this easier to judge. Accossato also cites modest wear and good fade resistance.
Two-Up and Fully Loaded
Descending a long pass with a pillion, the rider of a Griso often uses the rear brake to hold speed and to settle the bike before each hairpin. The ST pad copes with that sustained use and gives the same response whether the road is dry or damp. The organic OR version of this pad suits pure commuting, and there are STMX and EV1 versions, but for loaded, all-season riding ST is the obvious match.
On long trips, check the rear pad thickness during fuel stops and keep an eye on the fluid in the rear reservoir, which darkens with age and heat.
Fitment and Compatibility
This rear pad is catalogued by Accossato for the Griso 1200 from 2007 to 2019 and the Griso 1200 8V from 2007 to 2016; this listing covers the Griso SE 8V 1200. A single box fits the one rear caliper. For the front wheel Accossato recommends AGPA96, listed for the Griso from 2007 to 2016. Bed in the new rear pads with several gentle applications before loading the bike for a trip.
Road Approval
We have not received any German ABE or test mark for this pad, so it is sold for competition and track use.
