DescriptionThe whole story▼
Many owners of the KTM 1290 Super Duke R from 2014 to 2022 ride whenever they can, which in much of Europe means rain, cold mornings and wet leaves on the road. Accossato's AGPA42 rear pad in the Sintered compound is aimed at them. The maker says it keeps a high, constant grip level at low and high temperatures and works well when wet, so the rear pedal stays predictable in changing conditions.
Key Features
- AGPA42ST, Sintered rear pads
- KTM 1290 Super Duke R, 2014 to 2022, including the 2020 R Black
- Accossato: constant grip whether cold or hot
- Good performance in the wet
- Predictable rear brake in changing weather
- One box for the rear caliper
- No ABE; sporting use
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato describes the Sintered compound as holding a high, constant grip level across temperatures and performing well in the rain. At the rear of a Super Duke R ridden through the seasons, that means a pedal that behaves the same on a damp autumn morning as on a summer afternoon. The friction layer is fixed to the AGPA42 plate. Accossato also designs its pads to limit fade.
Wet Leaves and Cold Mornings
In wet or cold conditions, riders tend to use the rear brake more carefully, often applying it first to settle the bike before adding the front. A compound that responds consistently in those conditions makes that technique reliable. On slippery surfaces such as wet leaves or painted road markings, a predictable rear pedal gives the rider more confidence.
After riding in the rain or on salted roads, clean the rear caliper and check that the pads slide freely. When changing pads, inspect the disc, clean the piston before pushing it back and pump the pedal until it is firm. Check the fluid level and colour as part of the job.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the AGPA42 for the rear caliper of the KTM 1290 Super Duke R across 2014 to 2022, and for the R Black of 2020. The front of the bike takes the Accossato AGPA106. The AGPA42 is also offered as Organic and ZXC.
Road Approval
No ABE or approval mark for the Sintered AGPA42 is in our files, so it is sold for sporting use.
Scope of Delivery
One box containing two AGPA42 Sintered pads for the rear brake.
