DescriptionThe whole story▼
When a Chieftain carries two riders and full panniers over a mountain pass in the rain, the rear brake plays a major role. For that kind of touring, Accossato lists the AGPA81 rear pad for the Indian Chieftain from 2014 to 2023 in the Sintered (ST) compound. It aims to keep a steady bite through cold starts, long descents and wet roads, making it the pad for Chieftain owners who travel far in all conditions.
Key Features
- Accossato AGPA81 rear pad in Sintered (ST)
- Listed for the Indian Chieftain, 2014 to 2023
- Constant grip across temperatures, per Accossato
- Reliable when the road is wet
- For two-up touring with luggage
- Two pads, one caliper set
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato explains that its sintered compound maintains a high and uniform grip level at low and high temperatures and performs well in the wet. On a touring bagger, the rear pad may be cold after hours of highway and then needed firmly on a wet slip road, or heated by a long descent. The sintered mixture keeps its behaviour consistent across those conditions, supported by Accossato's general aims of durability and fade control.
Long Descents, Loaded
A Chieftain descending a long pass with a passenger and luggage relies on the rear brake to hold a steady speed while the front handles the bends. That continuous load heats the rear pad, and a sintered compound is designed to cope without the pedal fading. When rain arrives, the same pad responds promptly on wet tarmac. After fitting, check the rear reservoir level, bed the pads in with a series of moderate stops, and confirm the pedal is firm before setting off on the next leg of the tour.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists AGPA81 for the rear of the Chieftain 1800 from 2014 to 2023 and for the Classic (2015 to 2018), Dark Horse and Limited (both 2015 to 2023). AGPA38 is the matching front pad. The rear pad is also available as OR. One box covers the rear caliper. Inspect the disc for scoring before fitting.
Road Approval
There is no test report or German ABE on file for this sintered pad, so it is offered for track and competition use.
Scope of Delivery
Box with two AGPA81 rear pads in Sintered (ST), one set for the rear caliper of the Chieftain.
