DescriptionThe whole story▼
A wet city is a surface engineer's joke: painted arrows, steel inspection covers, tram rails, polished granite setts outside the old town hall and a diesel rainbow at every bus stop. A sports machine with a short wheelbase feels all of it through both wheels. Accossato offers the AGPA42 rear pad for the Ducati SuperSport 950 of 2020 to 2024 in the Sintered material as article AGPA42ST, a compound the maker credits with a high and constant grip level at low and high temperatures, and with working when the faces are wet.
Key Features
- Rear brake pads for the Ducati SuperSport 950, model years 2020 to 2024
- AGPA42ST: the AGPA42 shape carrying the Sintered material
- Accossato claims a constant grip level, cold faces or hot ones
- Wet discs are part of the description, not an afterthought
- One rear caliper, so a single box is the whole axle
- Two pads per box, the set that caliper closes on
- Front pads for this bike: the AGPA177 of the same years
- Also offered in OR and ZXC on the same shape
- No German ABE on record; a competition article
Construction and Material Quality
What matters in town is predictability, and that is the word this material is sold on. The pedal should give back the same amount of slowing for the same push whether the caliper is stone cold outside a supermarket or warm from an hour of traffic, and a film of water should not move the answer either. A rear brake used in small, frequent doses never gets properly hot, which is precisely the condition in which some materials feel vague. The AGPA42 plate is common to every version of the article, so what changes with the suffix is the behaviour and not the fitting. On a SuperSport 950 threading through a wet city, behaviour is the whole point.
Paint, Metal and Wet Cobbles
The slippery patches in a town are not random; they are in the same places every time. White paint at junctions, the metal plate over the roadworks that has been there since spring, the polished stone on the approach to a market square, the sheen of oil in the middle of a lane where traffic idles. A rider who has learned a city reads it in advance and arranges to be upright and off the brakes when the tyres cross the worst of it.
The rear brake earns its place in exactly those moments. A light pedal keeps the machine settled and short, without the fork movement the front lever produces, and if the back wheel does step out on a painted line the consequences are far milder than at the other end. Keep the fingers relaxed on the lever in slow traffic, brake before the slippery part rather than on it, and leave a gap that suits the surface rather than the speed. When the SuperSport 950 comes home, a rinse takes off the salt and grime that a wet city leaves behind the rear wheel.
Fitment and Compatibility
At the rear of the SuperSport 950 the AGPA42 runs from 2020 to 2024. The caliper there is a single unit and one box covers it. The front takes the AGPA177 over the same period and, with two calipers to fill, two boxes. Accossato names two discs for this model, the DK053 and the DKS053, which are not identical to one another. As with the rest of this pad range, the shape appears under more than one machine, so the article number is the reliable thing to quote.
Road Approval
No German ABE for the AGPA42ST has reached us and no test certificate accompanies it, which places the pads in the competition category: closed courses and organised events.
Scope of Delivery
One box, two AGPA42 pads in the Sintered material, and with one caliper at the rear of this Ducati that completes the axle.
