DescriptionThe whole story▼
Take the Desert Sled up a wet forest road and the rear brake turns into a steering aid. It trims speed on a loose descent, it stops the bike running wide in a rutted corner, and it does all of that with a disc permanently coated in water and grit. Accossato presses the AGPP91 rear pad in the Sintered material as article AGPP91ST, describing a compound that keeps a high and constant grip whether hot or cold and that goes on working when the disc is wet. The rear entry for the Scrambler 800 starts in 2017.
Key Features
- Rear pads for the Ducati Scrambler 800, 2017 to 2025
- AGPP91ST: the AGPP91 shape in the Sintered material
- Accossato reports steady grip at high and at low temperatures
- Wet discs belong to the specification rather than to the small print
- Covers the 803, the Cafe Racer to 2020, the Desert Sled to 2023
- Two pads per box, the set for the rear caliper
- The same shape is available in OR and STMX
- No German ABE on file; a competition part
Construction and Material Quality
Consistency is the whole of the argument here. A rear pad that bites hard when dry and vaguely when wet teaches a rider to distrust the pedal, and distrust of the pedal is the last thing anyone needs on a loose surface. The Accossato description covers both ends of the temperature range and names water on the disc, which is the condition this Ducati meets on any autumn ride. Below the friction layer is the common AGPP91 plate, shared with the other two versions, so the change is confined to the surface. Sintered suits riders who would rather keep one predictable pedal all year than a set that only flatters the bike in July.
Wet Gravel and a Long Way Down
Fire roads and farm tracks are where the long-travel body style makes sense, and they are also where the back brake does more work than the front. The surface changes every few lengths, from packed dirt to loose stone to standing water, and the rider asks for small repeated slowing instead of one firm stop. What counts then is not how hard the pedal can bite but how accurately it repeats itself.
Grit is the problem afterwards. Hose the back of the Scrambler 800 out before the mud sets, letting water run through the caliper rather than at it. Inspect the disc for scoring once it is clean, look along the pad edges for uneven wear, and check that the fluid has not darkened. Push the pistons back only after they have been wiped, and use the pedal a few times before setting off so everything is seated.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato dates the rear pad from 2017 to 2025 for the 803. The Cafe Racer shares that entry until 2020 and the Desert Sled until 2023, after which the two versions drop out of the list. The rear wheel has one caliper and takes one box. The front of this Scrambler 800 is served by the AGPA177, whose own entry runs on to 2026, and two Accossato discs are catalogued for the model, the DK008 and the DKS074. A bike from outside those years needs its own check rather than this listing.
Road Approval
There is no ABE and no German inspection paperwork for the AGPP91ST in our files, which is why it is catalogued as a competition item for closed courses.
Scope of Delivery
Two AGPP91 pads in the Sintered material, supplied as the set for one caliper, which is what the rear wheel of the Scrambler 800 needs.
