DescriptionThe whole story▼
Rain at a track day does not always mean the sessions are cancelled. It means a wet paddock, a careful out-lap and a rear caliper working in the spray thrown up by the tyre. For the Ducati Panigale V4 Superleggera of 2020 to 2024, Accossato offers the AGPA42 rear pad in the Sintered compound, which the company credits with an unchanging hold at high and at low temperatures and with coping when there is water about. At the back of a bike, that second half of the sentence is the interesting one.
Key Features
- AGPA42ST rear pads for the Ducati Panigale V4 Superleggera, model years 2020 to 2024
- Sintered (ST) material with an even grip level hot or cold
- Accossato names wet conditions as one of its strengths
- For riders whose weekends are not called off by a grey sky
- The box holds two pads, the complete fill for the rear caliper
- Same plate, other materials: OR for gentler use, ZXC for the ceramic route
- Renew both pads together and give them a few careful stops before relying on them
- No German ABE or other approval available; competition and track use
Construction and Material Quality
This material makes a simple promise. Whether the disc is cold from a night in the paddock or hot from a session, the level of grip stays where the rider expects it, and rain does not take it away. Behind the rear wheel of a Panigale V4 Superleggera that consistency is worth more than outright force: nobody needs a violent rear brake, but a pedal that answers differently on lap one than on lap ten is a nuisance at the very point where the bike is being settled. The carrier is the same AGPA42 plate the other materials use, so the change is purely one of friction surface, and the caliper takes the two pads supplied.
Spray Behind the Rear Wheel
Water reaches the rear brake of a motorcycle in a way it never reaches the front. The tyre picks it up off the surface and throws it forward and upward, mixed with rubber dust, grit off the run-off area and whatever the machine in front dropped on the line. A caliper sits in that stream for a whole session. Riders who use the pedal in the wet, and many do because it slows a Panigale V4 Superleggera without asking the front tyre for anything, want the same answer on the fifth lap as on the first. Afterwards the care matters as much as the compound. Rinse the rear end before the grit dries onto it, keep degreaser away from the disc face, check that the pedal returns freely once the bike is clean, and look at both pads rather than only the one visible from the right-hand side of the paddock stand. Water finds a seized part more quickly than dry weather ever does.
Fitment and Compatibility
This pad belongs on the rear wheel of the Superleggera V4 as Accossato lists it, 2020 to 2024. A single rear caliper takes a single box. Owners renewing brakes all round will want the AGPA106 for the front of the Panigale V4 Superleggera, where two boxes are needed because the wheel carries a caliper on each disc, and the DKS036 is the Accossato disc for this bike. The listing does not extend to other machines in the Panigale family.
Road Approval
Our files contain no German ABE and no other certificate for this article, so the pads are sold for use on circuits and in competition.
Scope of Delivery
Two AGPA42 rear pads in the ST compound, one box, one caliper.
