DescriptionThe whole story▼
Steel plates over roadworks, the joint on a bridge, a drain cover on the apex of a turn: in a wet town these are the things that catch out a rear wheel. A Ducati Hypermotard 950 RVE is light enough at the back for a locked wheel to arrive without much warning, and the pedal has to be readable rather than merely strong. Accossato's Sintered material for that wheel, article AGPA42ST on the AGPA42 plate, is listed for the RVE from 2020 to 2024 and described as holding an even grip level hot or cold and as gripping when the disc is wet.
Key Features
- Rear brake pads for the Ducati Hypermotard 950 RVE, model years 2020 to 2024
- AGPA42ST: the Sintered (ST) friction material on the AGPA42 plate
- Accossato's claim: an unchanged grip level cold or hot, and grip in the wet
- For urban riding where the surface changes every few metres
- Two pads in the box, the pair the one rear caliper needs
- OR and ZXC are the other faces available on this plate
- The AGPA177 is the front pad for this model and these years
- No German ABE on record; supplied for competition use
Construction and Material Quality
The sintered face is what this article number adds to the common AGPA42 plate, and Accossato's claim for it puts temperature and water in a single sentence. At the back wheel the useful consequence is predictability rather than power: the pedal should begin to work at the same point whether the disc is dry and warm or wet and cold. On a Hypermotard 950 RVE, where the rear tyre carries little weight and gives up early, predictability is what allows a rider to use the pedal at all in the wet.
Wet Metal in Town
Urban surfaces punish anyone who slows in the wrong place. The remedy is to decide where the deceleration happens rather than where it becomes necessary: get it done before the painted junction box, before the steel plate, before the drain at the edge of the turn, and cross the slippery part with the machine upright and the controls quiet. When something does go slightly wrong at the back, the recovery is what it always was, which is to ease the pressure rather than throw it away suddenly. It is also worth noticing how much of the town work a rider does with the rear pedal without thinking about it. Filtering, slow turns and traffic lights on a hill all run through it, and on a Hypermotard 950 RVE they add up to most of the journey.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's catalogue carries the RVE as a separate line and places the AGPA42 at its rear wheel for 2020 to 2024, the same pad it lists for the standard 950. One box, two pads, one caliper: the rear axle is finished in a single order. The front wheel of the same machine takes the AGPA177 over those years and needs two boxes because it has two calipers. The DKS053 is the disc Accossato names for this model.
Road Approval
No German ABE reached us with this article and no test certificate either, so it is listed for the circuit and for competition rather than for ordinary roads.
Scope of Delivery
One box of two AGPA42ST pads for the rear caliper of the Hypermotard 950 RVE.
