DescriptionThe whole story▼

A steep hairpin in the rain, two people aboard and a pair of full panniers behind them, is where the rear brake of a BMW R1250GS Adventure proves its worth. The pedal holds the bike at walking pace through the tightest part of the bend and steadies it when the road tips downhill again. For the Adventure of 2019 to 2024 Accossato lists its AGPA92 rear pad in the Sintered (ST) compound, a material credited with an even grip level hot or cold and with working properly on a wet disc.

Key Features

  • Rear pads for the BMW R1250GS Adventure, model years 2019 to 2024
  • AGPA92ST: the sintered version of this pad shape
  • Accossato reports constant grip at high and low temperature and in the wet
  • A box holds two pads, exactly what the rear caliper takes
  • One box is therefore enough for the whole rear wheel
  • Also produced as OR, EV1, EV2 and ZXC on the same outline
  • AGPA252 is the front pad for this bike, DK006 the listed disc
  • No German ABE documented; for circuit and competition use

Construction and Material Quality

What Accossato says about its sintered material is short and to the point. The grip stays high and does not change much with temperature, and water on the disc does not take it away. On a rear brake that is a practical virtue rather than a sporting one. The pedal gets used at low speed, on gradients, in the wet, often after the bike has stood outside a cafe in the rain for an hour, and a material that behaves the same in all of those cases is easier to meter out with a boot. The outline is the standard AGPA92, so it goes in like any of its relatives, two pads to the box.

Hairpins That Need the Rear

Alpine roads are full of bends tight enough to make the front brake a blunt instrument. Grab a handful at walking pace with the bars turned and a heavy machine wants to fall into the corner; feed in the rear instead and it stays upright and controllable. Riders who cross passes with a passenger use the pedal for the whole sequence: a little pressure to settle the bike before the apex, a little more to keep the speed in check while the road falls away, and none at all once everything is straight again. All of that is dragging work rather than stopping work, which puts heat into a small brake. Give it a rest on the straighter sections, and after a wet descent look over the rear caliper for grit thrown up from the surface before it grinds into the disc.

Fitment and Compatibility

The catalogue entry runs from 2019 to 2024 and covers the R1250GS Adventure alone. Only one caliper works the rear disc, so a single box sees the job through. Before pushing the pistons back to make room for fresh pads, wipe them clean, and afterwards work the pedal until it comes up firm: a rear brake that is pumped up on the drive rather than in the yard is a poor start to a journey. The front of the Adventure runs on the AGPA252, the disc in the same catalogue is the DK006, and OR, EV1, EV2 and ZXC are the other materials on this outline.

Road Approval

We have no German ABE and no examination certificate for the AGPA92ST on file. It is therefore offered for closed circuits and competition rather than for public roads.

Scope of Delivery

Two AGPA92 pads in the Sintered (ST) compound, boxed as the set for the rear caliper.
