DescriptionThe whole story▼
On a wet forest track the rear brake becomes the one you use most. The front is too easily overwhelmed on a loose, greasy surface, so the right foot does the fine work: a little pressure to slow the bike down a rutted descent, released the moment the wheel starts to lock. For the BMW R 1250 GS of 2019 to 2023, Accossato offers the AGPA92 rear pad in the Sintered (ST) material, which it describes as holding a constant grip level whatever the temperature and gripping well when the disc is wet.
Key Features
- Rear pads for the BMW R 1250 GS, model years 2019 to 2023
- Article AGPA92ST: the Sintered (ST) material on the AGPA92 plate
- Constant grip hot or cold and good behaviour in the wet, per Accossato
- Our fitment data also attaches this pad to the Rallye
- One box of two pads fills the single rear caliper
- Front pads for the same bike: AGPA252, same model years
- OR, EV1, EV2 and ZXC numbers carry the other materials
- No German ABE documented; for competition and track use
Construction and Material Quality
What Accossato claims for this material is consistency rather than ferocity: the same grip when the pads are cold as when they are hot, and no collapse when the disc is running wet. At the rear of a machine that gets ridden in bad weather and on unsealed roads, that is the property worth paying for, because the rear brake is modulated by feel and a pedal that responds differently from one application to the next cannot be modulated at all. The plate is the standard AGPA92 that the whole family shares, and the box holds a pair of pads, which is what one caliper takes.
Loose Ground and a Light Right Foot
Riding a heavy adventure bike down a wet, rutted track is an exercise in gentleness. Stand on the pegs so the machine can move underneath you, keep the weight back, look far enough ahead to choose a line, and let the engine do most of the slowing in a low gear. The rear brake is then used in small amounts, feeling for the point where the wheel is about to stop turning and backing off before it does; a locked rear on a descent is how an R 1250 GS ends up pointing the wrong way. All of this puts water, grit and clay into the caliper, so it is worth rinsing the area with a gentle flow of water afterwards rather than a jet held close, and letting the brake dry before the bike is put away. Look at the pads after a dirty weekend, not a month later.
Fitment and Compatibility
For the rear of the R 1250 GS between 2019 and 2023, Accossato's list names the AGPA92, and in our shop the entry covers the Rallye of those years as well. One caliper, one box, both pads changed together. The OR number is the gentler alternative on the same plate and the racing materials sit at the other end of the family. At the front the AGPA252 spans the identical years, and the DK006 is the disc Accossato offers here. While the pads are out, make sure the piston moves freely and clean it before it is pushed back into place.
Road Approval
No approval paperwork for the AGPA92ST exists in our records: no German ABE and no test certificate. These pads are therefore supplied for competition and circuit use.
Scope of Delivery
Two Accossato AGPA92 pads in the Sintered (ST) material, packed as the set for one rear caliper.
