DescriptionThe whole story▼
Wet town riding is made of small decisions. Painted lines at a junction, a manhole cover in the middle of a roundabout, a patch of diesel outside the bus station: on a Tuono V4 1100 the rear brake is what lets you adjust speed through those places without upsetting anything. Accossato lists the AGPA42 pad for the rear wheel of the Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 of 2015, and this listing is the Sintered (ST) compound, the one the company sets up to hold its grip level steady from cold to hot and on a wet disc.
Key Features
- Sintered (ST) rear pads for the Aprilia Tuono V4 1100, model year 2015
- Accossato: a consistent level of grip across temperatures, and secure in the wet
- For riders who use the bike in traffic and in bad weather, not only on dry Sundays
- Article number AGPA42ST; the shape is shared with the other compounds
- One box, two pads, one rear caliper: the complete job
- Companion front pad in the same catalogue: AGPA177
- The DKS032 disc is listed for this machine too
- No German test certificate in our files; supplied for the circuit
Construction and Material Quality
The argument for a sintered rear pad is consistency, and Accossato makes it directly: the grip level stays high and even whether the material is cold or has been worked, and a wet disc does not defeat it. A rider feels that mostly at the beginning of a journey. A pedal that needs warming feels vague for the first few streets, which is precisely where the rear brake is doing its most delicate work, and the rear disc of a naked bike is also the one most exposed to standing water. Accossato builds the pad to the AGPA42 outline for the original caliper of the Tuono V4 1100, so the old set comes out and the new one goes in with no further work.
Painted Lines and Wet Roundabouts
Ride the same route through a city every morning and you learn where the surface lies. The white arrows before a junction go slippery within seconds of the first rain, tram rails and metal covers are worse, and the roundabout by the station keeps a film of oil long after the shower has stopped. The rear brake is the tool for those places: a light, steady pressure settles the bike and slows it without the weight transfer a firm handful at the front would produce. What a rider wants from the pads there is not power but sameness, the identical amount of retardation for the identical amount of pedal, whether the bike left a cold garage ten minutes ago or has been out since dawn. Keep the disc free of chain lubricant, which is the usual reason a rear brake turns unpredictable.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's application list assigns the AGPA42 to the rear of the Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 for 2015, with the RR and Factory machines recorded under their own headings. One box does the whole rear brake because there is a single caliper to serve. The front wheel of the same bike takes the AGPA177 pad, where two calipers mean two boxes, and the DKS032 disc rounds out what the catalogue offers for this model.
Road Approval
For this compound, as for the rest of the AGPA42 family, we hold no German ABE and no comparable document. The pads are accordingly sold for competition and closed circuits.
Scope of Delivery
A single box containing two Sintered (ST) pads, the pair the rear caliper takes.
