DescriptionThe whole story▼
The back of a motorcycle lives in the dirtiest air on the machine. Everything the rear tyre lifts off a wet road, from water and grit to salt in winter and oil from the surface, passes straight over the caliper. Accossato's AGPA42 rear pads for the Aprilia RSV4 1100 Factory of 2019 to 2025 come in the Sintered (ST) compound, the mix the company puts forward for a steady grip level in the wet as well as the dry.
Key Features
- Sintered (ST) rear brake pads for the Aprilia RSV4 1100 Factory, 2019 to 2025
- Accossato AGPA42, two pads in the box for the one rear caliper
- Aimed at riders who use the bike in rain, cold and changing conditions
- Accossato: a constant grip level at both temperature extremes, with reliable bite on a wet disc
- Organic and ceramic racing versions of the same pad are listed as well
- Front pads for this Aprilia: AGPA106, quoted from 2019 to 2024
- Accossato also catalogues the DKS032 disc for this machine
- No German ABE or test mark held; racing and competition use
Construction and Material Quality
Sintered material has a reputation for wanting heat, and Accossato answers that head on: it says the ST compound holds a high, steady grip level at both ends of the temperature scale and keeps its bite when the disc is wet. At the rear of a fast V4 the first half of that statement matters most, because a rear pad often gets no chance to warm up at all on a road ride, and the rider still expects the same response every time the pedal goes down. The pad range as a whole is built for long service with limited fade, which at this end of the bike shows up mainly as fewer interruptions to the riding.
Using the Rear in the Wet
On a wet road the rear brake is a delicate instrument. Too much pressure and the wheel locks, which on a light rear end happens sooner than most riders expect; too little and you are ignoring a control that could be settling the bike. The practical approach is a small amount of pressure applied early, before the front is doing serious work, so the machine squats slightly and the load moves rearwards before it moves forward. That habit helps on a greasy roundabout and helps again on a wet descent, where it takes some of the burden off the front tyre.
The maintenance side is simple and easily forgotten. A rear caliper that is never cleaned will eventually grip its pads tightly enough that they drag, and a dragging pad on a machine as focused as the RSV4 1100 Factory takes the edge off everything. Rinse the area behind the wheel after a wet ride, keep chain lubricant off the disc, and check now and again that the pads move without force once the caliper is clear of the disc.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's rear listing for the Aprilia RSV4 1100 Factory covers 2019 to 2025 under the reference AGPA42. At the front, the same catalogue offers the AGPA106 from 2019 to 2024. The rear caliper needs one box; the front, with a caliper on each side, needs two. Look at the thickness and the surface of the disc behind them while the old pads are out, and refit both pads as a pair. The DKS032 is the disc Accossato publishes under this model name.
Road Approval
We hold no German ABE and no test mark for the sintered version of these rear pads; they are sold for racing and competition purposes.
Scope of Delivery
The box contains two AGPA42 pads in the Sintered compound, the complete set for the rear caliper.
