DescriptionThe whole story▼
Autumn is when a naked bike shows what its owner is made of. The Yamaha MT-07 has no fairing to hide behind, and anyone who keeps riding it after the leaves come down wants a front brake that behaves the same on a wet November morning as on a dry July afternoon. Accossato's AGPA97ST is the front pad for the MT-07 from 2014 to 2026 in the Sintered (ST) compound, aimed at riders who load up for a weekend away, carry a passenger or simply refuse to put the bike away when the weather turns.
Key Features
- Front pads for the Yamaha MT-07 across model years 2014 to 2026
- Article AGPA97ST, the AGPA97 shape in the Sintered (ST) compound
- Accossato reports a consistent grip level both cold and hot
- Good behaviour on a wet disc, according to the manufacturer
- Suited to year-round riding, mountain passes, luggage and a pillion
- One box holds two pads, one set for one caliper; the MT-07 has two
- Also available in OR, EV1, EV2 and ZXC under separate numbers
- Supplied for track and competition use, no German ABE on file
Construction and Material Quality
This AGPA97 carries Accossato's sintered friction material. The company describes it in terms of consistency: grip that sits at a high level and stays there whether the pads are still cold or have been worked hard, plus sound manners when the disc is wet. That profile makes it the natural pick for an MT-07 that is expected to cope with every season and every load. As with all Accossato compounds, the aim is a pad that wears slowly and resists fade by not overheating.
Rain, Luggage and a Long Descent
Picture an MT-07 with a tail bag strapped on and a passenger behind, rolling down the far side of an Alpine pass in drizzle. The front brake is doing more work than usual because of the extra weight, it is being used repeatedly on hairpin after hairpin, and the disc is never fully dry. What the rider wants in that moment is a lever that feels the same at the bottom of the descent as at the top, without a surprise when the first drop of water hits. That is the situation the sintered compound was chosen for. It also makes sense closer to home: a commuter who crosses the city in sleet in January benefits from the same even response. Keep the discs free of chain spray and road film, and look at pad thickness more often in winter, when grit shortens the life of any pad.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato fits the AGPA97 to the front of the Yamaha MT-07 for all model years from 2014 to 2026; the AGPP88 is the matching rear pad for the same period. The MT-07 brakes its front wheel with two calipers, so buy two boxes and renew both sides at the same session. Push the pistons back only after cleaning them, check that the discs are still within their wear limit, and top up or replace the fluid if it has darkened. Accossato also catalogues the DK077 and DKS073 discs for this bike. Pump the lever before moving off and bed the new pads in gradually.
Road Approval
No German ABE or other approval documents for this pad are available to us. For that reason the AGPA97ST is offered for use on closed circuits and in competition.
Scope of Delivery
