DescriptionThe whole story▼
A Triumph Tiger 800 XRX from 2015, 2016 or 2017 is often a well-travelled machine, and for touring owners Accossato lists its AGPA72 front pad in the Sintered (ST) compound. This is the pad to consider if your XRX regularly crosses mountain passes with luggage, carries a passenger, and keeps going when the weather turns. The ST mix is meant to deliver steady grip in cold and heat alike and to keep biting on a wet disc.
Key Features
- AGPA72ST front pad in Sintered (ST) compound
- Fits the Triumph Tiger 800 XRX, 2015-2017
- Accossato: high, even grip whatever the temperature, and dependable wet bite
- Aimed at touring, pillion riding and all seasons
- Two pads in the box for one front caliper
- Also available as OR, EV1 and EV2
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato sums up the Sintered compound as keeping a high, constant level of grip at both high and low temperatures, with good grip in the wet. For a tourer that faces frosty mornings, hot passes and rainstorms on a single trip, those properties are the ones that matter. The company's general claims for its pads include slow wear, fade resistance and strong stopping.
Mileage and Mountains
Older XRX bikes often carry high mileage from years of touring. On such a bike, the front brake must slow a loaded machine repeatedly on long descents, where heat builds up. A compound that holds a constant grip keeps the lever feel predictable through those descents. In rain, it keeps working despite water on the discs. When fitting new pads to an older XRX, it is also a good time to check the discs for wear and warping, renew the brake fluid and clean the calipers thoroughly. Riders who only commute will be well served by the OR pad; those heading for a track, by EV1 or EV2.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists AGPA72 for the front of the XRX from 2015 to 2017. The 2018 XRX uses AGPA29 instead. The bike has two front calipers, so plan on two boxes. The rear pad for the XRX is Accossato AGPP89. Clean the pistons before pushing them back and pump the lever until firm before setting off.
Road Approval
Our files hold no German ABE or test mark for AGPA72ST. It is offered for racing and competition use.
