The KTM 1290 Super Adventure S of 2017 to 2023 is a natural choice for big European tours, the kind that include coastal rain, cold mornings in the mountains and hot afternoons on the plains. For that range of conditions, Accossato makes the AGPA96 front pad in the Sintered compound. The maker says it keeps grip high and even at low and high temperatures and bites well on wet discs, which makes it the version for all-season riders and long-haul travellers.

Construction and Material Quality
Accossato builds its argument for the Sintered compound around one idea: a grip level that stays high and constant whatever the temperature, with good performance when the disc is wet. On a touring S, that consistency is worth more than a sharp first bite, because the rider needs to predict the brake in the tenth hour of a ride as well as in the first. The friction layer is fixed to the standard AGPA96 plate. The company, founded near Turin in 1969, also designs its pads to limit fade.
Rain on the Coast, Frost on the Pass
Long tours bring conditions that no weather app fully predicts. A morning start above a mountain lake may be close to freezing, the midday ride along the coast may be under heavy showers, and the evening arrival may be in warm sunshine. A compound designed to hold its grip level across that span keeps the front lever familiar, so the rider can concentrate on the road.
With luggage and a passenger, the S dives further under braking and asks more of the front pads on every stop. Check pad depth before leaving, look at both discs for grooves, and replace the fluid if it has darkened. When fitting, clean the pistons first, change both calipers together, and pump the lever until it is solid before the first ride.
Fitment and Compatibility
The AGPA96 is listed by Accossato for the front calipers of the KTM 1290 Super Adventure S across 2017 to 2023. The S uses two front calipers, so order two boxes. For the rear, the AGPA29 is listed for the same years. Organic, EV1, EV2 and ZXC are the other AGPA96 compounds.
