DescriptionThe whole story▼
A Chieftain is Indian's bagger: a big V-twin with a fairing, hard panniers and the range to cross a country in a few days. Such distances bring every kind of weather, and the front brake has to slow a lot of mass loaded with gear. Accossato lists the AGPA38 front pad for the Indian Chieftain from 2014 to 2023, here in the Sintered (ST) mixture, chosen by long-distance riders who need an unchanging bite from sunrise rain to evening heat.
Key Features
- AGPA38 front pad made with Accossato's Sintered (ST) mix
- Catalogued for the Indian Chieftain, 2014 to 2023
- Grip level stable in cold and heat, per Accossato
- Good bite when the road is wet
- Matched to a loaded touring bagger
- Each box: two pads, one caliper
- Other mixtures for this pad: EV1, EV2, ZXC
Construction and Material Quality
What Accossato promises from the ST compound is a grip level that stays high and hardly shifts between a cold pad and a hot one, plus reliable behaviour on wet roads. On a touring bagger, the front pads face long stretches of light use punctuated by heavy stops when traffic suddenly bunches up. A sintered mixture keeps those stops predictable. The pad also carries Accossato's broader aims of durability and of heat kept low enough that fade does not set in.
Crossing Borders on a Bagger
Picture a Chieftain setting out on a two-week tour: fog on the first morning, a hot motorway through the plains, a thunderstorm on an Alpine pass. The fairing keeps the rider comfortable, but the front pads have to work in all of it with two people and full panniers on board. A sintered pad is designed for that range. Before a long trip on new pads, ride a few hundred metres with gentle, repeated stops so they seat against the discs, then check the reservoir and the fluid colour.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's Chieftain entries run from 2014 to 2023: the Chieftain 1800 across the whole span, and the Classic (2015 to 2018), Dark Horse and Limited (both 2015 to 2023). All of them take AGPA38 at the front. At the back, the brand lists AGPA81 for the same bikes. One box is sized for a single caliper, so count how many calipers grip the front discs of your Chieftain before ordering.
Road Approval
Inter-Pace has no German ABE or approval certificate for this pad on file and therefore sells it for racing and competition.
Scope of Delivery
