DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Indian Chief is a heavyweight cruiser built around a large air-cooled V-twin, and it asks a lot of its front brake every time the rider slows a big, heavy bike from speed. Accossato lists its AGPA38 front pad for the Chief from 2014 to 2023, and this version uses the Sintered (ST) compound. It suits owners who ride long distances in changing weather and want the same firm bite on a cold morning, a hot afternoon and a wet highway.
Key Features
- Accossato AGPA38 front pad in Sintered (ST)
- Listed for the Indian Chief, 2014 to 2023
- Constant grip at high and low temperatures, says Accossato
- Reliable braking in the rain
- Matches the weight of a big cruiser with luggage and pillion
- Two pads per box, one caliper set
- Alternatives: EV1, EV2 and ZXC
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato describes the sintered mixture as providing high, consistent grip at both temperature extremes and good wet performance. On a heavy cruiser such as the Chief, the front brake has to absorb a lot of energy on every stop, especially with a passenger and saddlebags, and it must not change character when the pad heats up. The ST compound is designed for that steadiness, along with Accossato's general aims of low wear and heat control against fade.
Stopping a Heavyweight
A Chief rolling along a two-lane highway carries a lot of momentum, and when traffic slows unexpectedly the front brake must deliver firm, predictable deceleration. With a passenger aboard and a long ride behind, the pads are warm; after a night parked outside a motel, they are cold. A sintered pad keeps the bite consistent across both situations, and it handles a sudden downpour well. At each pad change, check the disc surfaces and the brake fluid, and replace the fluid if it looks dark.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists AGPA38 for the Indian Chief front brake from 2014 to 2023, with catalogue entries Chief 1800 (2015 to 2023), Chief 1800 Bobber (2022 to 2023), Chief 1800 Classic (2014 to 2018) and Chief 1800 Vintage (2014 to 2019). The rear pad for the Chief is AGPA81. One box re-pads one caliper; check how many front calipers your Chief has before ordering.
Road Approval
We hold no approval certificate or German ABE for this pad, so Inter-Pace offers it for racing and competition use.
