DescriptionThe whole story▼
Plenty of Honda CB500F owners discover that their A2-friendly naked is also a capable touring bike, and the first long trip often leads over a mountain pass with luggage strapped to the seat. On the way down, the front brake works harder than on any commute. Accossato's AGPA81 front pad in the Sintered (ST) compound is aimed at riders who use the CB500F of 2013 to 2021 like that, in changeable weather and with extra weight, and want grip that stays constant as temperatures change.
Key Features
- Sintered (ST) front brake pads for the Honda CB500F, 2013 to 2021
- Accossato AGPA81 shape, article number AGPA81ST
- For mountain passes, luggage and changeable weather
- Accossato describes high grip that stays even whether cold or hot
- Good grip with water on the disc, according to Accossato
- Two pads per box, sufficient for the single front caliper
- Organic (OR) is also listed for this shape
- No German ABE on record; supplied for track and competition use
Construction and Material Quality
The ST designation marks Accossato's sintered compound for the AGPA81. The company claims two things for it: a high level of grip that remains almost unchanged between cold and hot pads, and dependable bite on a wet disc. On a long descent that consistency means the lever does not wander towards the bar as the brake heats up, and a shower halfway down does not change the feel. The pads are packed as a pair for one caliper.
Hairpins with Luggage
Descending an Alpine pass on a laden CB500F, the rider brakes before every hairpin, releases through the turn and brakes again a few seconds later. Luggage adds mass, and a passenger adds more. Mix in a shower at altitude and a sun-warmed road lower down and the front pads see a wide spread of conditions within an hour. Use a lower gear to let the engine help, brake firmly and briefly rather than dragging the lever, and take a pause at the bottom if the brake has been busy. Check pad thickness on the CB500F before a trip rather than on the road.
Fitment and Compatibility
For the Honda CB500F built from 2013 to 2021, Accossato lists the AGPA81 at the front. A single caliper means one box does the job. At the rear, the AGPP185 is catalogued, and the DK230 disc also appears in Accossato's list for this model. Replace both pads at once and bed them in with a series of moderate stops before loading up for a trip.
Road Approval
No German ABE and no test certificate are on file for this pad. The AGPA81ST is therefore sold for motorsport and closed-course use.
Scope of Delivery
One box with two AGPA81 pads in Sintered (ST), for the front caliper.
