DescriptionThe whole story▼
Ducati replaced the 1200 with the Multistrada 1260 for 2018, keeping the silhouette of the family and giving it a longer-stroke engine that pulls hard from low revs. It is a machine for early departures and long days, which means its front brake is regularly asked for a firm stop before the discs have any warmth in them at all. Accossato presses the AGPA106 in the Sintered material for the front of that bike, article AGPA106ST, describing the compound as giving a high and constant grip level hot or cold and as coping with wet discs. The front listing names the 2018 season.
Key Features
- Front brake pads for the Ducati Multistrada 1260, listed for 2018
- AGPA106ST: the AGPA106 shape pressed in the Sintered material
- Accossato reports a constant grip level with cold discs and with hot ones
- Wet discs are named in the factory description of the compound
- Two front calipers on the 1260, so a full change is two boxes
- Two pads per box, the set a single caliper takes
- EV1, EV2 and ZXC are the other versions of the same shape
- No German ABE on file; competition part
Construction and Material Quality
What the factory promises for this material is mostly the absence of a surprise. A compound whose grip level moves about with temperature makes a rider adjust without realising it, squeezing harder in the cold and easing off once things warm up, and it is that guesswork the Sintered version is meant to remove. Water gets the same treatment in the description: a wet disc is a condition the material is said to work in, not one it has to recover from. The AGPA106 plate below the friction layer is shared across the range, so the change between suffixes is never a change of fit.
Leaving Before It Is Light
Long days start in the dark. The bike has stood out overnight, there is dew on the discs and a chill in the fork legs, and within a couple of minutes of setting off you meet a junction that wants a proper stop rather than a polite one. Riders who do this often develop the habit of a deliberate first application while still rolling slowly, purely to learn what the brakes are going to give them today. On a Multistrada 1260 with luggage already strapped down, that information is better had before the first roundabout than during it.
The same applies to the rest of the cold checks. Look at the fluid level with the bike upright and the bars straight rather than on the side stand. Spin the front wheel to be sure neither caliper is holding on after a damp night. And if the machine has stood for weeks rather than hours, expect the first few applications to feel dull while a film of surface rust is wiped off the discs, which is normal and clears within a street or two.
Fitment and Compatibility
The front entry for the 1260 covers the 2018 season and names the 1260 itself. Two calipers work at that wheel and each needs its own set, which makes two boxes a complete change. It is worth being plain about the years: the rear pad for this model is catalogued from 2018 to 2021, while the front listing stops after 2018, so a later 1260 is not covered by this article and the part fitted to it should be checked first. The rear article is the AGPA29, and the DKS053 is the disc offered here.
Road Approval
An ABE has never been issued to us for the AGPA106ST, and no German test certificate came with it, so we list the pads for racing and closed-course use.
Scope of Delivery
Two AGPA106 pads in the Sintered material in a single box, sized for one front caliper. The Multistrada 1260 takes two of them at the front.
