DescriptionThe whole story▼
For a good many riders the winter months are the enduro season. The road bike is under a cover, the days are short, and a machine that can be ridden on wet, empty tracks is the one that gets used from November onwards. Cold and wet are hard on the small moving parts of a handlebar, and the left-hand side takes the worst of it. Accossato lists the AGS14 for the 500EXC-F from 2017 to 2023, a silver clutch lever in the original form.
Key Features
- Clutch lever in the original form for the KTM 500EXC-F
- Accossato's entry covers 2017 to 2023
- Silver
- Left-hand side, hydraulic clutch
- An original spare parts type, priced as a spare rather than a tuning part
- The manufacturer states that its process improves resistance after damage
- A single lever
- No approval documents on file; listed for racing and competition
Construction and Material Quality
In poor conditions a control that behaves as expected is worth more than one that looks interesting. The AGS14 keeps the shape of the clutch lever the 500EXC-F was delivered with, so a hand in a thick winter glove finds the blade where it has always been and the arc of the movement is unchanged. Accossato groups the part with its original spare parts types, developed for value for money, and reports that the manufacturing method behind them leaves the levers more resistant after damage or a collision. Silver is the listed colour for this application, and the company publishes no further technical detail.
A Bike for the Winter Months
Riding through the winter is mostly a matter of accepting that everything takes longer afterwards. The bike comes back wet, salty if any road has been treated, and packed with the kind of mud that sets overnight, and the parts that suffer are the ones with small clearances. Handlebar pivots are exactly that. The routine that keeps them healthy is short but has to be done every time rather than occasionally: rinse gently while the dirt is soft, let the machine drain, then dry the cockpit and work each lever through its travel to check that nothing is gritty. Every few rides, take the blades off, clean the bolts and the bores, and grease them again, because a winter pivot that is washed weekly and greased never is worse off than one that is left alone. Thick gloves add a second consideration. A hand that cannot feel much will not notice a lever that is starting to drag, so the check has to be done with bare fingers in the workshop. And a blade with a broken tip is worse in winter than in summer, since a gloved hand slides off the shortened end without warning. On a 500EXC-F used through the cold months, controls are the cheapest maintenance there is and the one most likely to be skipped.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's entry gives the AGS14 for the 500EXC-F from 2017 to 2023 and names no second original-type clutch lever for this model. The brake side is split by year, with the AGD316 for 2017 to 2023 and the AGD319 for 2024, so the model year decides there. The clutch code is one of the most widely shared in this family and is listed with us for the Beta RR 390 4T, the Husqvarna FE 350 and the Husqvarna TC 250 as well. Accossato's CNC levers for this machine are the B8283 and the C7283.
Road Approval
Accossato provided no test or approval documentation for the AGS14, so there is no German ABE and no test mark to show, and we list the lever for racing and competition.
