DescriptionThe whole story▼
Brake levers and clutch levers break differently, and knowing how helps when you are looking at a bike after a fall. The right-hand lever is usually damaged by a direct hit as the bike goes down; the left-hand one is just as often bent slowly, by a series of small knocks that nobody notices until the clutch stops feeling right. On an FE 450 ridden regularly off-road, both happen. Accossato lists the AGS17 for the FE 450 from 2018 to 2023, a silver clutch lever in the original shape.

Construction and Material Quality
The AGS17 comes from Accossato's range of original spare parts types, which means it is shaped after the clutch lever Husqvarna fitted to the FE 450 and is sold as a repair rather than an improvement. The company built the range around value for money and says that the way these levers are manufactured leaves them more resistant once they have taken damage or a fall. Accossato gives silver as the colour for this application. It publishes nothing else about the part, and this text does not go further than its information.
How a Clutch Lever Fails
Slow damage is the harder kind to spot. A lever that has been knocked a dozen times in undergrowth ends up very slightly closer to the grip than it began, and because the change happened over weeks the rider adapts without noticing. The symptoms show up elsewhere: fingers that catch between the lever and the grip on a hard pull, a clutch that no longer disengages fully when the lever reaches the grip, or a take-up point that feels different from the one on a friend's identical bike. The way to check is to compare rather than to judge from memory. Hold a new lever alongside the fitted one, or sight down the length of the blade from directly in front of the bars. If it has moved, replace it. Fast damage is more obvious but has the same conclusion. Either way, fit the new lever with a clean and lightly greased pivot, leave the small free play at rest that the FE 450 handbook specifies for the hydraulic clutch, and pull the lever repeatedly to be sure it comes fully back on its own.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the AGS17 for the FE 450 from 2018 to 2023, with the AGS14 covering 2014 to 2016 and 2017 not given on the clutch side. The same AGS17 appears with us under the FC 350, the FE 501 and the FX 450 among other machines. The brake levers of the original type for the FE 450 are the AGD316, the AGD14 and the AGD319, each for its own span of years. Accossato's CNC clutch levers for this bike are the C7283 and the C7284.
Road Approval
Our records contain no approval document for the AGS17, so we quote no German ABE and no test mark and list the lever as a part for racing and competition.
