DescriptionThe whole story▼
A big single in a city is a contradiction that commuters learn to live with: enormous low-down torque for filtering past queues, and a surprising amount of engine braking the moment the throttle shuts, so the front lever is asked for small, exact inputs far more often than for a full stop. On a 690 DUKE ridden every weekday the brake lever earns its keep in traffic rather than on an open road. Accossato lists the AGD149 for this bike from 2011 to 2019, a silver front brake lever in the original form.
Key Features
- Front brake lever in the original form for the KTM 690 DUKE
- Accossato's entry covers 2011 to 2019
- Silver
- Right-hand side of the handlebar
- An original spare parts type, developed for a fair repair price
- Accossato reports better resistance after damage or a collision
- One lever per pack
- No test documents held; listed for racing and competition
Construction and Material Quality
The AGD149 is not trying to be anything other than the lever the 690 DUKE already wears. It reproduces the outline of the original front brake lever, so the two fingers that normally rest near its end find the same angle after a repair that they knew before it. Accossato groups this part among its original spare parts types, a programme built around the price of an everyday job rather than a tuning upgrade, and it states that the production process behind these levers leaves them more resistant once they have taken damage or been through a fall. Silver is the colour given for this application. The manufacturer publishes nothing further, and nothing further is claimed here.
A Narrow Gap and a Low Wall
Riders who use a naked single for the daily commute tend to lose the front lever in a very particular way, and it rarely involves speed. The bike is parked on a kerb outside a shop, or threaded between two cars in a gap barely wider than the mirrors, and the front end catches a low wall, a bollard or the wing mirror of a car that moved while the rider's back was turned. None of that does much damage to the bike as a whole, but the lever, being the part that sticks out furthest at exactly bar height, usually takes the hit. The second common cause is a tip-over at a complete standstill, the bike leant too far on a camber or a soft verge, where the fall happens at walking pace but the lever lands first all the same. Either way the result is the same small annoyance: a bent or snapped blade on a bike that is needed again the next morning. A 690 DUKE used daily rewards an owner who checks the lever on these occasions rather than riding on with one that no longer returns cleanly, because a brake that hesitates for a fraction of a second in traffic is the one time this bike's engine braking alone is not enough. Fitting the replacement is quick, the hydraulics stay sealed, and the only real job afterwards is confirming the brake light switch has not been knocked out of position by whatever caused the damage in the first place.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the AGD149 for the 690 DUKE from 2011 to 2019 and pairs it with the AGS202 on the clutch side across the same years, so the whole bar is covered by two straightforward codes. Elsewhere in our catalogue the AGD149 is also listed for the Ducati MONSTER 796 and the KTM 690 ENDURO R, which share this control. Accossato's CNC lever for the 690 DUKE is the EDB012, for anyone who would rather fit a tuning part than a plain spare.
Road Approval
No German ABE and no test mark can be shown for the AGD149, since Accossato provided no approval documents, and the lever is sold for racing and competition use.
