DescriptionThe whole story▼
Braking standing up is a different skill from braking sitting down, and the CRF250RX asks for it constantly. Honda's cross-country version of the 250 spends its time on ground that is never flat for long, where the rider is on the pegs, the weight is moving backwards and forwards, and the front brake is applied in short, precise touches rather than long squeezes. All of that is transmitted through one small blade. Accossato lists the AGD279 for the CRF250RX of 2019 to 2021, a silver front brake lever in the original form.

Construction and Material Quality
The AGD279 is a spare in the plainest sense. It takes the outline of the brake lever the CRF250RX was delivered with, so the rider's hand meets the same shape in the same place and no adaptation is needed after a repair. Accossato's stated purpose for this part of its programme is value: a control that gets destroyed in ordinary use should be inexpensive to put right. The company also reports that its production method leaves these levers more resistant once damage or a collision has occurred. The listed colour is silver, and no further data is published about the part.
Braking on the Pegs
Standing up changes everything about the front brake. The hand comes to the bar from above rather than behind, the wrist sits flatter, and the fingers reach the blade at a different angle than they do from the saddle. That is why a lever bent even slightly inwards matters more on a CRF250RX than on a road bike: the rider is not gripping tightly, one or two fingers are resting over the blade while the others hold the grip, and a control that has moved either traps those fingers or leaves them grasping at nothing. Both outcomes cost precision at the exact moment precision is wanted, which is usually a downhill turn with roots across it. After any fall, get off the bike, look along the bar from the front and then sit on it and look again, because the two views disagree more often than you would think. Set the perch angle from the standing position, not the seated one, and leave the clamp tight enough to hold but loose enough to rotate in a heavy impact. Replace a twisted blade rather than straightening it. Before riding, roll the CRF250RX forward and brake hard enough to feel the fork compress, then check that the brake light comes on early in the travel and that the lever returns cleanly against its stop.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the AGD279 as the only original-type brake lever for the CRF250RX, covering 2019 to 2021, so there is no shape puzzle on this side of the bar. The clutch side takes the AGS271 for the same three seasons. Beyond this model the AGD279 is listed with us for the Honda CRF250R, the CRF450R and the CRF450RX, which means one spare can cover a garage with more than one of these machines in it. Accossato's CNC levers for the CRF250RX are the B8207 and the C7210.
Road Approval
For the AGD279 we hold no German ABE and no test mark, since Accossato supplied no approval papers. The lever is listed for racing and competition, which is where a CRF250RX lives anyway.
