DescriptionThe whole story▼
The rear brake reservoir on a GSX-R 1000 gets far less attention than the one on the bars, which is exactly why its cap tends to be the one part on a 2017 to 2019 GSX-R that still looks factory-fresh years later. Accossato's TS012, CNC-machined aluminium anodised in seven colours, is built for that reservoir and lists alongside the FP001 oil filler and TS005 front brake caps for the same bike.
Key Features
- Rear brake fluid reservoir cap for the Suzuki GSX-R 1000, 2017 to 2019
- CNC-machined aluminium, anodised throughout
- Seven colours: blue, green, black, orange, red, silver, gold
- FP001 oil filler and TS005 front brake fluid reservoir caps also listed for this GSX-R
- Fits the original rear reservoir, once checked against the list
- Also listed for several other bikes sharing this reservoir
- Completes a full set of Accossato caps on one GSX-R
- No German ABE on file; built for track and competition use
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato machines the TS012 from aluminium on CNC equipment and anodises it afterwards, so the colour becomes part of the surface of the metal rather than sitting over it as paint would. The maker states only which reservoirs the cap suits, without giving a separate measurement, so the GSX-R 1000's model year is what decides fitment here. Black keeps the rear of the bike looking factory, while the brighter colours bring the rear reservoir in line with a front end already finished in Accossato parts.
Winter Lay-Up and the Spring Check
A GSX-R put away for winter often comes back out with a rear reservoir nobody has looked at since the last ride of the previous season, which makes spring the obvious time to deal with the cap and the fluid behind it together. Stand the bike so the rear reservoir sits level before opening it, mask the surrounding paint, and move briskly once the old cap is off, since brake fluid marks paint instantly and pulls moisture from the air the longer the reservoir is open; rinse any spill with water straightaway. Check the level between its markings, fit the TS012 with the screws turned up gently, and test the rear brake at a standstill before the bike goes back on the road. A fresh cap says nothing about whether the fluid itself is also due a change on the schedule the manual sets.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the TS012 for the Suzuki GSX-R 1000 for its 2017 to 2019 model years, and the same cap also covers the Ducati Diavel 1260, Diavel 1260 S, Desert X and several Hypermotard models, among other bikes with the same rear reservoir. The FP001 oil filler and TS005 front brake fluid reservoir caps are both listed for this GSX-R too, so a full matching set is possible.
Road Approval
Accossato has supplied no test or approval documents for the TS012, so we carry it for racing and closed-course use rather than the public road.
