DescriptionThe whole story▼
The second generation of the Diavel arrived in 2019 with the 1262 Testastretta DVT engine and kept the recipe of the original: a long, low power cruiser with a huge rear tyre and a riding position far removed from a sports bike. That shape changes the way it brakes. On a long, low machine, less weight moves onto the front wheel under braking, so the rear brake has more to contribute than on a superbike. For the Diavel 1260 of 2019 to 2022, Accossato lists the TS012, an aluminium cap for the rear brake fluid reservoir, CNC-machined and anodised.
Key Features
- Rear brake fluid reservoir cap for the Ducati Diavel 1260, 2019 to 2022
- Replaces the cap on the original rear reservoir, according to Accossato
- Aluminium, CNC-machined and anodised
- Seven colours: black, red, silver, gold, orange, blue, green
- Same cap also listed for the Diavel 1260 S and the Desert X
- Fit to be confirmed on Accossato's application list
- No German ABE documented; intended for track use
Construction and Material Quality
Seven anodised colours are available for the TS012: black, red, silver, gold, orange, blue and green. Beneath the colour is aluminium, cut to shape on CNC machines. Accossato builds the cap around the original rear reservoir of each bike on its list, so a Diavel 1260 keeps its factory brake components in full, and the change is limited to the part you can see. The part you cannot see matters just as much: the original diaphragm or seal under the old cap. If it has hardened with age, replace it before closing the reservoir.
Why the Rear Brake Counts on a Diavel
Sports bike riders are often told that the front brake does nearly all the work. On a Diavel 1260 that rule needs adjusting. The long wheelbase and low seat keep more weight on the rear tyre under braking, so the rear brake can take on a meaningful share of the stopping, and riders who use both brakes together get a calmer, more settled bike. The rear also matters at low speed, when a long machine is turned in a tight car park or eased down a slope. All of that means the rear circuit is in regular use and deserves regular attention. With the bike upright, look at the reservoir: the fluid should sit between the marks and should not have darkened. Brake fluid absorbs moisture over time, so it must be renewed at the interval in the owner's manual, whatever cap sits on top. If you fit the TS012 yourself, protect the paint nearby with a cloth, open the reservoir only briefly, rinse off any spill with water at once and tighten the cap gently. Press the pedal several times with the Diavel 1260 at a standstill, and set off only once it feels firm.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's application list names the Diavel 1260 from 2019 to 2022 for the TS012, as a cap for the original rear reservoir. At Inter-Pace the same part is also catalogued for the Diavel 1260 S, the Desert X and the Hypermotard 950. Accossato does not list further caps for the Diavel 1260. Please compare your bike with the application list before ordering, and if the rear brake has been changed from standard, look at the reservoir itself.
Road Approval
In the absence of an ABE or any test mark for the TS012, we offer it as a part for circuit and competition riding.
