DescriptionThe whole story▼
Blue oxidation on the rear PZ016 is a finish several riders pick to match a front caliper from the PZ015 range running the same colour, carrying the pairing from the front axle through to the back of the bike. The PZ016 itself is a CNC-made axial caliper built for rear-wheel use only, with an 84 mm distance between mounting centres and a 16 mm offset, two 34 mm aluminium pistons, a dust seal and a pair of AGPA42 organic pads fitted from the factory.
Key Features
- CNC-made rear axial brake caliper, 84 mm mounting centres
- Offset 16 mm
- Two aluminium pistons, 34 mm diameter
- Dust seal fitted as standard
- Two AGPA42 brake pads, organic compound, included
- Blue oxidation finish
- Listed for 51 models in our garage, see the Fitment tab
- 77 individual applications recorded in the fitment tab
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato machines the PZ016 entirely on CNC equipment rather than offering a die-cast alternative, the way it does with the left, right or rear-mounted PZ015, and fits the same 34 mm aluminium pistons, dust seal and AGPA42 organic pads regardless of which of the seven finishes is chosen. Blue oxidation is applied to the completed body once the caliper has passed its own measurement checks, and has no bearing on the 84 mm mounting centres or 16 mm offset underneath the colour.
Matching Front and Rear Caliper Colours
A rider running a blue PZ015 or a blue caliper elsewhere on the front end can order the PZ016 in the same blue oxidation to carry the colour to the rear, though the two calipers are not the same part: the PZ015 is sold in up to four finish and manufacturing combinations and can be mounted to the left, right or rear of the bike, while the PZ016 is built only as a rear caliper, in seven colours rather than four. Matching the two is a styling choice rather than a mechanical requirement between the parts.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the PZ016 for 51 models in our garage, see the Fitment tab, including the Aprilia RSV4, RSV4 1100 and RSV4 1100 Factory, the Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 range, and the Ducati Hypermotard 821 and 939, with 77 individual applications recorded. For a model outside that list, the 84 mm mounting centres, 16 mm offset and rear disc thickness should be checked before ordering.
Road Approval
Accossato has not obtained ABE documentation for the PZ016, so fitting it to a road-registered motorcycle in place of the original rear caliper needs to be cleared with a registration authority first. Since the rear brake is part of the overall braking system, having the caliper fitted and bled by a qualified workshop is recommended.
Scope of Delivery
1x Accossato PZ016 rear axial brake caliper in blue oxidation, with two AGPA42 brake pads in the organic compound already fitted.
