DescriptionThe whole story▼
Accossato's PZ017 rear caliper is built to a 45 mm distance between mounting centres and a 29 mm offset, with two pistons at 24 mm diameter. This listing is the CNC-made version, with aluminium pistons and a hard-oxidation finish, and the two AGPP258 pads supplied can be ordered in an organic or a sintered compound depending on which suits the bike. No dust seal is fitted. Riders already running a hard-oxidised caliper on the front end often pick this version for the rear to keep the look consistent across both ends of the bike, rather than mixing a die-cast caliper with a CNC-made one.
Key Features
- Radial rear brake caliper, 45 mm mounting centres, offset 29 mm
- CNC-made manufacturing
- Two pistons, 24 mm diameter, aluminium
- No dust seal fitted
- Hard-oxidation finish
- Two brake pads, code AGPP258, included
- Organic or sintered pad compound
Construction and Material Quality
The CNC-made version of the PZ017 is machined from aluminium rather than cast, with two 24 mm pistons in the same material and no dust seal fitted. Checked on three-dimensional measuring equipment during production, the body then receives the hard-oxidation treatment used on this listing, one of three finishes Accossato offers on this caliper. The two AGPP258 pads ship already clipped in, in whichever of the organic or sintered compounds is selected.
Matching Front and Rear Caliper Finishes
A bike running a hard-oxidised front caliper from elsewhere in Accossato's range can carry the same finish through to the rear with this CNC-made PZ017, rather than mixing an oxidised front with a die-cast or chromed rear. The organic compound fitted here suits a rear caliper on a bike that still sees road use between sessions, giving longer pad life and less disc wear than the sintered alternative, while the sintered compound holds grip more evenly once the rear caliper starts seeing real heat during a race weekend. Either compound fits the same CNC-made body and aluminium pistons, so the choice is about riding style rather than the caliper itself.
Fitment and Compatibility
The PZ017 is a universal rear caliper for Mini GP and pit bike conversions, so before ordering, check the 45 mm mounting centres and 29 mm offset against the bike, confirm the rear disc thickness, and check whether a caliper adapter is needed for the CNC-made version.
Road Approval
Accossato does not provide ABE documentation for the PZ017, and Mini GP machines and pit bikes built for competition are generally used off the public road in any case; where a conversion is intended for road use, it needs to be cleared with a registration authority beforehand. Fitting and bleeding the caliper should be left to a qualified workshop.
