DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Accossato PRS 17x15-16-17 is the largest piston option in this adjustable radial clutch line, built for motorcycles where a bigger piston is wanted to move more fluid per stroke, paired with a lever pivot that can be set to 15, 16 or 17 mm. It suits riders who prefer a firmer, more direct clutch action and still want the freedom to adjust the pivot rather than accept one fixed setting. The long folding lever has a relieving eyelet and is available in seven colours, with the adjusting knob matched to the lever colour.
Key Features
- 17 mm piston diameter, the largest in the PRS clutch range
- Adjustable lever pivot distance: 15, 16 or 17 mm, suitable for all uses
- Long folding lever with relieving eyelet (RST), available in seven colours
- Adjusting knob finished in the same colour as the lever
- CNC-machined aluminium body with natural anodising
- Offset riser that reduces master cylinder deflection during gear changes
- Stainless steel mounting screws and a zinc-plated bleed valve
- Seals manufactured from Formula 1 compound material
Construction and Material Quality
This clutch master cylinder is machined from solid aluminium billet in Italy, with a natural anodised finish rather than paint. Stainless steel screws hold the unit to its clamp, the bleed valve is zinc-plated steel, and the seals are produced from Formula 1 compound so they continue sealing properly after repeated contact with hydraulic fluid and the heat that builds up around the engine and gearbox. An offset riser within the clamp reduces bending of the body when the lever is worked hard, and the fluid passages are shaped to minimise the passive stroke, the small amount of lever movement before the clutch plates actually begin to separate.
Why a 17 mm Piston Suits Firmer Clutch Feel
Being the largest piston offered in this PRS clutch line, the 17 mm size displaces more fluid for each millimetre the lever travels, which shortens the stroke needed to fully disengage the clutch but asks for more hand force to do it. That trade-off suits riders who find a smaller piston too soft at the lever, or who simply prefer a shorter, more positive action when changing gear under load. The three position pivot, adjustable between 15, 16 and 17 mm, still allows the hand effort to be eased off a little by selecting the shorter pivot setting, without having to move to a smaller piston altogether.
Fitment and Compatibility
Neither Accossato nor our own fitment data lists specific motorcycles for this clutch master cylinder; it is supplied as a universal 17 mm radial clutch pump for a 22 mm handlebar clamp. Before ordering, verify that your handlebar clamp is 22 mm and that your clutch hydraulics suit a 17 mm piston.
Road Approval
This clutch master cylinder is not supplied with German road-approval documentation; it is intended for track and competition use.
