DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Accossato 16x16 is the softest-feeling clutch master cylinder in this range, pairing a 16 mm piston with a fixed 16 mm pivot distance that Accossato describes as the setting that applies the least force to the lever at the cost of a slightly longer stroke. It suits riders who want a light clutch action for stop-start traffic or long days in the saddle rather than the sharpest possible bite. The long folding lever carries a relieving eyelet and is offered in seven colours, with the body CNC-machined and black anodised in Italy.
Key Features
- 16 mm piston diameter for a progressive, easily controlled clutch release
- Fixed 16 mm pivot distance, the softest setting in the range, for a lighter lever pull
- Folding lever, long version, with relieving eyelet (RST)
- Seven lever colours with a colour-matched adjusting knob
- CNC-machined aluminium body with black anodised finish
- Offset riser that reduces master cylinder flex during gear changes
- Stainless steel screws and a galvanised steel bleed valve
- Seals manufactured from Formula 1 compound material
Construction and Material Quality
Every Accossato clutch master cylinder in this family starts as aluminium, CNC-machined to shape and then anodised black at the Italian factory. The mounting screws are stainless steel, the bleed valve is galvanised steel, and the internal seals are a Formula 1 compound chosen to resist the heat and chemical exposure of clutch fluid over years of use. A riser built off-set into the clamp keeps the body from flexing as the lever is pulled, and the internal passage is shaped to cut the passive stroke, the travel before the clutch starts to release, by more than half compared with an ordinary radial unit.
The Softest Setting in the Range
With both the piston and the pivot distance set at 16 mm, this is the gentlest-pulling clutch master cylinder Accossato builds on this platform. A smaller pivot distance reduces the leverage at the lever, which in practical terms means less hand force is needed to disengage the clutch, though the trade-off, as Accossato notes, is that the lever has to travel slightly further to do the same job. For riders covering long distances or working the clutch constantly through town, that lighter pull is usually worth the extra stroke. The long folding lever fitted here keeps the action smooth through that longer travel, and its relieving eyelet gives a secure fingertip hold even with the lighter spring load this setting produces at the lever.
Fitment and Compatibility
51 motorcycles are confirmed for this clutch master cylinder, led by BMW's R NineT family, the R NineT, R NineT Pure and R NineT Racer, plus Honda's CB1100 and Suzuki's SV650. The Fitment tab on this page lists every model and year in detail; set it against your own registration before you order.
Road Approval
This clutch master cylinder carries no ABE documented for this part number, so it is intended for track and competition use.
Scope of Delivery
The package contains the Accossato CL025 radial master cylinder complete with the long folding lever with relieving eyelet (RST), in the lever colour selected, and the matching colour-anodised adjusting knob. Stainless steel mounting screws and the galvanised bleed valve are fitted; the stop light switch and fluid reservoir are not included and are ordered separately (switch under code ID001 or ID002, reservoir as a standalone item).
