DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Accossato 17x20 sits at the firm end of the 17 mm range: the same piston, suited to callipers with mounting bolts 32 mm apart or closer, paired with a 20 mm pivot distance Accossato does not recommend for the street. The shorter lever stroke that results suits circuit riders willing to trade a lighter lever action for a more immediate response. The lever is fixed, long and fitted with a relieving eyelet, the body is natural anodised, and the lever is available in a choice of colours.
Key Features
- 17 mm piston diameter, suggested for motorcycles with calliper mounting bolts 32 mm apart or less
- 20 mm fixed lever pivot distance, the firmest setting in the 17 mm range, not recommended for street use
- Fixed lever, long version, with a relieving eyelet (RST)
- Lever supplied in a choice of colours, with a matching adjusting knob
- CNC-machined aluminium body with a natural anodised finish
- Offset riser that limits master cylinder flex under hard braking
- Passive lever stroke reduced by more than 50 percent versus a standard radial master cylinder
- Stainless steel mounting screws, zinced bleed valve and Formula 1 compound seals
Construction and Material Quality
Made in Italy from forged aluminium, this master cylinder is CNC machined and finished with a natural anodised surface, in line with the rest of the 17 mm range. Stainless steel screws, a zinced bleed valve and Formula 1 compound seals are specified to handle the heat and wear that come from the hard, repeated braking this firmer pivot setting tends to see on track days. An offset riser in the mounting clamp resists bending under that load, and the bore geometry cuts the passive stroke to less than half the length a standard radial unit would need. The hose connection remains the familiar M10x1 thread.
Track-Only Bite from the 17 mm Piston's Firmest Pivot
The 20 mm pivot distance is the firmest setting Accossato offers across this piston size, shortening the lever stroke for a given hand movement while asking for more force to reach full braking power, and the manufacturer is explicit that it is not recommended for street use. Combined with the 17 mm piston, suited to calliper mounting bolts 32 mm apart or closer, this gives circuit riders a short, direct lever stroke at the cost of the easier, more forgiving pull that the 18 mm and 19 mm pivot settings provide on the road. It is a deliberate choice for track days rather than an everyday setup.
Fitment and Compatibility
This master cylinder, like its folding-lever counterpart, comes with no motorcycle-specific fitment list from Accossato; treat it as a universal 17 mm radial unit for a 22 mm handlebar clamp. Measure your bars, confirm the brake system is designed around a 17 mm bore, and check that the calliper's two mounting bolts sit no more than 32 mm apart before you commit to buying.
Road Approval
This master cylinder is not supplied with German road-approval documentation; it is intended for track and competition use.
Scope of Delivery
The package includes the Accossato 17x20 radial brake master cylinder fitted with the fixed, long lever with relieving eyelet, in the colour selected, together with the matching mounting nut. Stainless steel mounting screws, the zinced bleed valve and the Formula 1 compound seals are assembled on the unit. The stop light switch, available separately as ID001 or ID002, and the fluid reservoir are not included and must be purchased separately.
