DescriptionThe whole story▼
This folding-lever edition of the Accossato 14x20 radial brake master cylinder uses the same 14 mm piston and 20 mm pivot distance as the fixed-lever version, the firmest, shortest-stroke setting in this piston size, which Accossato does not recommend for street use and positions for track-style riding instead. The folding lever adds protection against a low-speed drop or a knock at a trackday, pivoting back rather than taking the full impact at the master cylinder body, which matters on a scooter or small-bore machine that is often parked nose-to-tail in a paddock or left leaning on a kerb between sessions. It is supplied long, with a relieving eyelet.
Key Features
- 14 mm piston diameter, suggested by Accossato for scooters
- 20 mm pivot distance, the firmest and shortest-stroke setting in this piston size
- Folding lever, long version, fitted with a relieving eyelet (RST)
- CNC-machined aluminium body with a natural anodised finish
- Offset riser that reduces master cylinder deflection during braking
- Passive lever stroke cut by more than 50 percent versus a standard radial unit
- Stainless steel mounting screws and a galvanised steel bleed valve
- Seals manufactured from Formula 1 compound material
Construction and Material Quality
Machined from aluminium billet on CNC equipment in Italy, the body of this master cylinder is finished with a natural anodised coating. The screws are stainless steel, the bleed valve is galvanised steel, and Formula 1 compound seals are fitted internally to cope with heat and sustained brake fluid exposure. An offset riser limits flex of the clamp under hard use, and the internal geometry is designed to reduce the passive stroke, the travel before the pads engage, by more than half relative to a conventional radial unit.
Track-Style Braking for Small-Bore Machines
A 14 mm piston paired with the longest, 20 mm pivot distance Accossato offers for this size gives the shortest possible stroke before the pads bite on a scooter or other small-bore machine, at the cost of a firmer lever pull. Accossato does not recommend this setting for street use. On machines that see track days or closed-course riding, the folding lever used here means that a tip-over at low speed in the paddock is less likely to damage the lever than it would on a fixed design.
Fitment and Compatibility
This master cylinder has no published vehicle list and is offered as a universal-fit component for scooters and small-bore machines with a single front disc. Check the handlebar clamp diameter, which should be 22 mm, confirm a single-disc brake layout, and verify the 14 mm piston matches the existing system before buying.
Road Approval
This master cylinder has no ABE documented; it is intended for off-road, track and competition use.
Scope of Delivery
The box contains the Accossato radial brake master cylinder itself, assembled and ready to fit, together with its mounting hardware. A brake light switch is not included and can be ordered separately under part number ID001 or ID002. A fluid reservoir is likewise not included and is sold separately in several styles to suit different handlebar layouts.
