DescriptionThe whole story▼
This folding-lever version of the Accossato 14x19 radial brake master cylinder shares its 14 mm piston and 19 mm pivot distance, Accossato's mixed track and street setting for this piston size, with the fixed-lever equivalent, so braking feel does not change. What differs is that the lever folds back against the handlebar under a knock, rather than holding one rigid position, which matters on a scooter that gets parked tightly or occasionally dropped at low speed. It is supplied long, with a relieving eyelet.
Key Features
- 14 mm piston diameter, suggested by Accossato for scooters
- 19 mm pivot distance, described as suited to mixed track and street use
- Folding lever, long version, fitted with a relieving eyelet (RST)
- CNC-machined aluminium body with a natural anodised finish
- Offset riser that reduces master cylinder deflection during braking
- Passive lever stroke cut by more than 50 percent versus a standard radial unit
- Stainless steel mounting screws and a galvanised steel bleed valve
- Seals manufactured from Formula 1 compound material
Construction and Material Quality
The body is machined from a solid aluminium billet on CNC equipment in Italy and left with a natural anodised surface. Mounting screws are stainless steel, the bleed valve is galvanised steel, and the internal seals are cut from Formula 1 compound to tolerate heat and brake fluid over the part's working life. An offset riser built into the clamp area limits deflection when the brake is applied firmly, and the lever mechanism trims more than half of the passive stroke found on a standard radial master cylinder.
Why a Folding Lever Suits a 14 mm Scooter Master Cylinder
Scooters and small-bore machines using this 14 mm piston size are often parked in tight bays, left on a sidestand in traffic, or ridden by less experienced riders, all situations where a low-speed knock to the lever is more likely than on a dedicated sportbike. A folding lever absorbs that kind of impact by pivoting back instead of bending or snapping at the master cylinder body. Combined with the 19 mm pivot distance rated for mixed track and street use, the result is a brake feel suited to varied riding with an added layer of day-to-day durability.
Fitment and Compatibility
As with the fixed-lever version of this setting, no specific vehicle list is published; this is a universal-fit master cylinder intended for scooters and comparable small-bore machines carrying a single front disc. Check the handlebar clamp diameter, which should be 22 mm, confirm the brake system is single-disc, and match the 14 mm piston to the fluid displacement the existing calliper needs before ordering.
Road Approval
This master cylinder has no ABE documented; it is intended for off-road, track and competition use.
Scope of Delivery
The box contains the Accossato radial brake master cylinder itself, assembled and ready to fit, together with its mounting hardware. A brake light switch is not included and can be ordered separately under part number ID001 or ID002. A fluid reservoir is likewise not included and is sold separately in several styles to suit different handlebar layouts.
