DescriptionThe whole story▼
A caliper that stays on a bike for years rather than one season needs its pistons, seals and pads kept in working order, and the PZ004 in black coated finish is built with that routine in mind. The caliper is a forged monobloc radial unit, 108 mm centre distance, 22.5 mm offset, with four aluminium pistons of 34 mm diameter running behind a fitted dust seal, and pads supplied under code AGPA134. Accossato sells replacement pistons, seals and dust seals separately by code for exactly this kind of ongoing upkeep.
Key Features
- Radial brake caliper, forged monobloc body, made in Italy
- Black coated finish
- 108 mm centre distance, 22.5 mm offset
- Four aluminium pistons, 34 mm diameter
- Dust seal fitted
- Pads included, code AGPA134, compound OR, ST or ZXC
- Listed for 76 models in our garage, see the Fitment tab
- Supplied as a left caliper, right caliper or matched pair
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato forges the body and machines it on five-axis CNC equipment, checking it on three-dimensional measuring machines before a hard oxidation treatment and the black coating are applied. Four aluminium pistons of 34 mm diameter sit behind the fitted dust seal, and the caliper arrives with pads already mounted under code AGPA134. The pistons, seal and pad mounting are identical across every finish Accossato offers on the PZ004.
Keeping the Caliper Serviceable
Accossato lists piston seals and dust seals for the PZ004 by their own part codes, separate from the pads, so a caliper that has done several seasons of riding can have its seals renewed rather than the whole unit replaced. The pads themselves wear down with use and Accossato sells replacements in the organic, sintered and ceramic compounds already offered on this caliper, so the same choice made at the time of purchase can be repeated at each pad change. Checking the bleeding valve torque, specified by Accossato at 8-10 Nm, each time the system is bled keeps the caliper working correctly over the long term regardless of the finish it is painted or coated in.
Fitment and Compatibility
This caliper is listed for 76 models in our garage, see the Fitment tab, including the Kawasaki GTR1400, Honda CMX1100 Rebel and Honda CBR1000RR-R SP. Accossato's fitment data for the PZ004 lists 120 individual entries, each specific to a model year, so the Fitment tab is worth checking whenever the caliper is fitted to a different bike, including a second-hand sale. Outside that list, the 108 mm centre distance and 22.5 mm offset are the figures to check against the disc and mount.
Road Approval
No ABE is documented for this caliper in Germany, so fitting it to a road-registered bike needs registering with the responsible authority before public road use. A qualified workshop should carry out the fitting, given that the brake system is safety-relevant.
Scope of Delivery
1x Accossato PZ004 forged monobloc radial brake caliper in black coated finish, supplied as a left caliper, right caliper or matched pair depending on the option chosen, with aluminium pistons, dust seal and pads in the selected compound already fitted.
