DescriptionThe whole story▼
Choosing a brake pad compound and a caliper colour at the same time is how the PZ012 is ordered, and orange oxidation is the finish a rider picks here when the colour matters more than blending in with the rest of the bike. Underneath, the specification does not change: a 108 mm centre distance, 22.5 mm offset, a 34 mm and a 38 mm aluminium piston, a dust seal, and a pair of AGPA96 pads supplied already fitted in the chosen compound.
Key Features
- Two-piece billet radial brake caliper, made in Italy
- 108 mm centre distance, 22.5 mm offset
- Aluminium pistons, 34 mm and 38 mm diameter
- Dust seal fitted
- Pads included, code AGPA96, ST or ZXC compound
- Orange oxidation finish
- Listed for 72 models in our garage, see the Fitment tab
- Supplied as a matched pair or right caliper
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato assembles the PZ012 from two CNC-machined billet sections rather than from a single forging, fitting the dust seal and the two differently sized aluminium pistons once the halves are joined into one body. Orange oxidation goes onto the caliper only after this assembly stage is finished, and the same process applies whichever of the seven colours in the range is chosen, so the surface treatment never touches the pistons, pads or the dimensions that decide which bikes the caliper will fit.
ST or ZXC: Choosing the Pad Compound
Accossato supplies the AGPA96 pads fitted to the PZ012 in two compounds: ST, a sintered material the company says holds a consistent, high level of grip at both high and low temperatures and on wet ground, and ZXC, a ceramic compound aimed at racing use. A bike that mixes road riding with occasional track days tends to suit the ST pad's broader temperature range, while a caliper used only on a dry circuit can make better use of the sharper bite the ZXC compound gives on track.
Fitment and Compatibility
Our garage lists the PZ012 against 72 models, see the Fitment tab, among them the Honda CBR600RR, CB1000R, Kawasaki Ninja1000SX SE and CMX1100 Rebel, together with the CFMOTO MT-X 800, out of 111 recorded fitment lines for this caliper. A bike that falls outside this list should have its 108 mm centre distance and 22.5 mm offset checked against the fork and disc already in place before an order is placed.
Road Approval
Accossato does not document an ABE for the PZ012, so a caliper fitted to a road-registered motorcycle in place of the original equipment needs to be registered with the responsible authority before the bike returns to the road. The brake system is safety-relevant, so fitting should be left to a qualified workshop.
Scope of Delivery
1x Accossato PZ012 two-piece billet radial brake caliper in orange oxidation, supplied as a matched pair or right caliper depending on the option chosen, with aluminium pistons, dust seal and AGPA96 pads in the selected compound already fitted.
