DescriptionThe whole story▼
The MY004 pairs Accossato's quick-throttle housing with the GR002 grip for the Yamaha R6 built between 2008 and 2016, supplied with the matched YA003 cable and three interchangeable inner cams. Unlike the GR001 or GR006 options for this same R6, the GR002 is not offered in a separate grip colour, so only the cap finish is chosen at the point of ordering, with the housing, cable and cams otherwise built to the same standard as the other two kits for this R6.
Key Features
- Accossato quick-throttle control built specifically for the Yamaha R6 (2008–2016)
- Supplied with the matched YA003 throttle cable set
- GR002 racing grip included as standard, no separate grip colour choice
- Eight cap colours for the anodised throttle housing
- Three interchangeable inner cams, 40, 43 and 45 mm, included
- Housing made from two CNC-worked aluminium half-rings
- Sold under code MY004
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato builds the MY004 on the same two-piece aluminium housing as the rest of the range, anodised in eight cap colours. The GR002 grip fitted to it skips the colour range sold with the GR001 or GR006, so cap finish is the only choice left when ordering. Three inner cams, 40, 43 and 45 mm, still come included, changing the throttle's stroke with housing fitted; a larger diameter gives a quicker, longer-travel response in Accossato's description, a smaller one the opposite. The cable in the box, YA003, is cut for the R6 built before 2017.
A Kit for an R6 Already Showing Its Age
By the later years of its 2008 to 2016 production run, an R6 fitted with this kit has often already had its factory throttle cable replaced once through ordinary wear, which makes the MY004 as much a renewal of that part as a performance change. Buying the complete kit, cable included, sidesteps having to judge separately whether an old factory cable, or even a previously fitted aftermarket one, still has enough life left before committing to the quick-throttle conversion, leaving only the cap colour to decide once the order for this particular Yamaha-fitted kit is placed, the same narrower choice buyers face with the GR002 grip on every other bike in the range.
Fitment and Compatibility
This kit is built for the pre-2017 Yamaha R6, covering 2008 through 2016 under the bundled YA003 cable; an R6 from 2017 onward needs the separate YA014-based kit instead, listed on the Fitment tab. Fitting the MY004 replaces the Yamaha's factory throttle control and cable together.
Road Approval
There is no ABE or parts certificate documented by Accossato for the MY004; registration rules depend on the country, so check before road use. After fitting, confirm that the throttle returns to idle by itself through its full range before riding the bike.
