DescriptionThe whole story▼
The first generation of the Yamaha YZF-R125, from 2008 to 2018, is a common sight as a second-hand learner bike, and many are still used for daily trips. For its rear brake, Accossato offers the AGPA173 pad in the Organic (OR) compound. It suits owners who ride in town and on country lanes, want a smooth, quiet rear brake and would like to preserve the disc. Accossato describes the organic material as giving longer performance and limiting disc wear.
Key Features
- Rear brake pads for the Yamaha YZF-R125, 2008 to 2018
- AGPA173 shape in the Organic (OR) compound, item AGPA173OR
- Long-lasting performance and low disc wear, per Accossato
- Quiet, progressive rear brake for daily riding
- Two pads per box for the rear caliper
- Only the OR compound is listed for this pad
- No German ABE on file; for track use
Construction and Material Quality
The AGPA173 is offered in Accossato's organic material only. The company describes this compound as designed for sustained performance and low disc wear. For the rear of an older YZF-R125, often ridden by riders on a budget, a pad that lasts and spares the disc is a sensible choice. It also resists fade by limiting heat build-up. Two pads come in the box, the set for one caliper.
Keeping an Older R125 Running
Second-hand learner bikes are often neglected, and the rear brake is one of the first things to suffer: seized pistons, worn pads, dirty fluid. When fitting new pads, it is worth giving the whole rear brake some attention. Clean the pistons carefully, check that they move freely, inspect the disc for grooves, and replace the brake fluid if it is dark. Then pump the pedal until firm and bed the pads in gently.
Everyday Use
A progressive rear pad helps with slow-speed control in traffic and on wet roads. Riders on the R125 use the rear to steady the bike in tight turns and at walking pace, and a smooth organic material makes that easy.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the AGPA173 at the rear of the Yamaha YZF-R125 from 2008 to 2018. For 2019 to 2024 the rear pad changes to the AGPP99. At the front, the AGPA101 is listed for 2014 to 2024, with no Accossato front pad in our data for 2008 to 2013. The DK245 disc is also listed.
Road Approval
We hold no German ABE or approval evidence for this pad. It is sold for circuit and competition use.
