DescriptionThe whole story▼
On the Yamaha XJR1300, a heavy four-cylinder roadster with twin rear shocks, the rear brake is a useful partner to the front: it steadies the bike at low speed, helps settle it before a bend and makes slow manoeuvres easier. For the XJR1300 from 2002 to 2013 and 2015 to 2019, Accossato lists its AGPA117 rear pad in the Organic (OR) compound, which is the only compound listed for this pad. It suits riders who want a smooth, quiet rear brake and a disc that is not worn away quickly.
Key Features
- AGPA117 rear pad, Organic (OR) compound
- For the XJR1300, 2002 to 2013 and 2015 to 2019
- Smooth, progressive pedal feel
- Accossato: long performance and limited disc wear
- Quiet operation in town
- One box for the rear caliper
- Organic is the only listed compound for AGPA117
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato describes Organic as giving longer-lasting performance while limiting wear on the disc. On the rear of a heavy roadster, the pad is used frequently but rarely at full force, and a compound built for longevity suits that duty well.
Handling a Heavy Bike Slowly
Pushing an XJR1300 through a tight turn at walking pace takes some skill, and a light drag of rear brake against a little throttle makes it far easier. An organic pad is well suited to this technique, because the braking force follows the pressure of the foot closely and does not snatch. The same smoothness helps when stopping on a slope or rolling gently into a parking space. The pad works immediately from cold and stays quiet in town, and its gentle treatment of the rear disc keeps maintenance costs down over the years.
A Note on the Years
Accossato's listing for this rear pad covers 2002 to 2013 and 2015 to 2019. The year 2014 is not included, and neither are the 1999 to 2001 bikes, even though the front pad AGPA97 is listed from 1999. Check your existing pads if your bike falls into one of those years.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists AGPA117 for the XJR 1300 from 2002 to 2013 and the XJR 1300 RACER from 2015 to 2019. The front pad for the XJR1300 is AGPA97, and the DK033 disc is also listed by Accossato. The rear has a single caliper, so one box covers it. Clean the pistons before retracting them, check the disc and fluid, and pump the pedal until it is firm before riding.
Road Approval
No German ABE or test mark is available to us for this rear pad. It is offered for racing and competition use.
