DescriptionThe whole story▼
On a Triumph Tiger 800 XRT, the rear brake is the tool for finesse: balancing the bike at a crawl, tightening a line in a slow bend, or holding the machine still on a sloping driveway. Accossato's AGPP89 rear pad is listed here for the 2018 XRT, and this variant uses the Organic (OR) compound. It is for riders who want the rear to feed in softly and quietly, and who would like the rear disc to see out many seasons before it needs replacing.
Key Features
- AGPP89 rear pad in Organic (OR) compound
- This listing: Triumph Tiger 800 XRT, 2018
- Accossato: performance that lasts, minimal disc wear
- Soft, progressive pedal for slow-speed balance
- Quiet operation in built-up areas
- Two pads in the box for the one rear caliper
- A Sintered (ST) version is also available
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato's claim for Organic is brief and practical: the pad holds its performance over a long span of use and treats the disc gently. At the back of a road-going tourer, which is used constantly but rarely at its limit, that is a very sensible brief. The company, today based in Villastellone near Turin, also lists slow wear, fade kept at bay by moderate heat and a firm stop among the strengths of its pads.
Balance at Walking Pace
Riders who learned on smaller bikes often discover on the XRT how helpful the rear brake is at low speed. A light drag on the pedal while feeding in the clutch keeps a heavy machine steady through a U-turn or a tight gateway, and a compound that bites progressively makes that technique easy to master. Organic pads also tend to stay quiet, so the XRT does not announce every stop in a narrow street. Owners who ride with a pillion in the wet will find the ST version better aligned with that job; for solo everyday riding, the OR pad is a relaxed companion.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's own list names AGPP89 for the rear of the Tiger 800 XRT from 2015 to 2018; this particular listing is for the 2018 bike. At the front of the 2018 XRT, Accossato lists AGPA29. When fitting, push the piston back only after cleaning it, inspect the rear disc for grooves, check the fluid level in the rear reservoir and pump the pedal until firm. A handful of gentle stops beds the pads in.
Road Approval
There is no German ABE and no test mark in our records for this rear pad. We sell it for racing and competition purposes.
