Construction and Material Quality
Accossato says its Organic compound provides longer performance and limits disc wear. At the rear of a heavy cruiser that is used constantly at low speed, a soft and predictable response is what the rider needs to balance the bike during tight manoeuvres. Accossato's general claims of strong stopping and fade held back by limited heat apply as well. The Organic layer is carried on the AGPA92 plate.
Slow-Speed Balance
Riding instructors teach cruiser riders to use a touch of rear brake with a little throttle during slow turns, because it keeps the bike stable without upsetting the steering. That technique relies on a pedal that answers small movements smoothly. An Organic pad is well suited, as it works from cold and responds progressively.
Check the rear pad thickness regularly, since cruiser riders often use the rear more than the front. Practising slow figure-eights in an empty car park is a good way to get to know how a fresh set responds. When fitting new pads, clean the caliper piston before pushing it back and press the pedal until firm.
