The rear brake on a KTM 1290 Super Adventure works quietly in the background: holding the bike on a hill start, calming it on a slow U-turn, settling the chassis before a bend. Accossato's AGPA29 rear pad in the Organic compound is intended for owners of the 2015 and 2016 model who ride mostly on ordinary roads and want a soft, smooth rear brake that runs without noise and does not eat into the disc.

Construction and Material Quality
For its Organic compound Accossato promises long-lasting performance and limited disc wear. At the rear of a big tourer those are sensible priorities, because the rear pads see many light applications and rarely reach high temperatures. The friction layer is fitted to the standard AGPA29 plate. Accossato generally designs its pads to keep heat in check and to brake strongly, though on the rear of a Super Adventure it is the smoothness of the first contact that riders notice most.
Slow-Speed Control with a Heavy Bike
Anyone who has turned a fully fuelled Super Adventure round in a narrow street knows how much the rear brake helps. Dragging it lightly while the clutch slips keeps the bike stable at walking pace, and a soft compound makes that control easy because it does not snatch. The Organic mixture rewards small movements of the pedal with small changes in braking.
The same applies to filtering through town traffic, stopping at the top of a steep driveway or waiting on a slope at lights. When you change the rear pads, check the disc for wear and ridges, clean the piston before retracting it and make sure the pad slides freely in the caliper. Pump the pedal several times after fitting so the piston returns to the pads, then test it at walking speed.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the AGPA29 for the rear caliper of the KTM 1290 Super Adventure, model years 2015 to 2016. The front brake of this bike uses the Accossato AGPA96. Other versions of the AGPA29 are ST, STMX and EV1.
Road Approval
We have no ABE or test mark for this Organic rear set, so it is sold for sporting use on closed courses.
