DescriptionThe whole story▼
Steep gravel driveways, ferry ramps and the slow crawl through a campsite are not what anybody pictures when they think of a Ducati Streetfighter 848 S, and they are where its rear brake does its most careful work. Accossato covers the back wheel of the 2012 to 2015 machine with the AGPA42 pad, and the Organic material carries the article number AGPA42OR. The compound is described by the factory as lasting well and as taking little out of the rotor, which suits an owner who intends to keep the motorcycle for years.
Key Features
- Rear brake pads for the Ducati Streetfighter 848 S, model years 2012 to 2015
- AGPA42OR: the AGPA42 shape with the Organic friction material
- Accossato links the material to long service and restrained rotor wear
- For slow, controlled work: ramps, steep ground and low-speed turns
- A single rear caliper takes one box
- The same carrier is also pressed in ST and in ZXC
- Two pads per box, always replaced together
- No German ABE on file; supplied for competition use
Construction and Material Quality
Read the description carefully and it is a statement about time rather than force. The material is meant to go on working for a long while and to leave the rotor in a condition worth keeping, which is the economics of the rear axle in a single line: the pads are cheap and the disc behind them is not. Sitting under the friction layer is the plain AGPA42 plate, identical in every version of the article, so the surface is the only thing a buyer is actually choosing between.
Slow Going on Steep Ground
Handling a sports naked at a crawl is a skill, and the rear brake is most of the technique. Easing down a steep gravel track with the clutch covered, holding position on a slope while a gate is opened, walking the bike backwards out of a parking space that looked flatter than it was: all of it happens with a boot pressing lightly and continuously. A Streetfighter 848 S is short and top-heavy enough for those moments to demand attention, and none of them ask the pad for more than steady, predictable friction.
This is also the axle that gets neglected. Build a habit of glancing at the rear pads whenever the chain is adjusted or the wheel is out for a tyre, because the caliper is low, dirty and easy to walk past. Clean the pistons before they go back, keep lubricant well away from the rotor face, and press the pedal until the travel firms up before the Streetfighter 848 S is ridden. Then take it gently for a while so the new material settles evenly.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the AGPA42 for the rear of the Streetfighter 848 S from 2012 to 2015 and gives the same number to the standard Streetfighter 848 of those years. The front of this particular machine, by contrast, takes the AGPA106, a different article from the one fitted to the non-S bike. Nothing appears for the model in the disc part of the catalogue, so rotors must be sourced separately.
Road Approval
An ABE for the AGPA42OR does not exist in our records, and no German test report accompanies the part. It is sold for racing and closed-course use rather than for a road-registered machine.
Scope of Delivery
One box with two AGPA42 pads in the Organic material, the set the rear caliper needs, and that is the whole back axle of this Ducati taken care of.
