DescriptionThe whole story▼
Some machines earn their keep at walking pace. A Ducati Scrambler 1100 Special, with its spoked wheels and brushed metal, gets taken to meetings and ride-outs where half the day is spent rolling between parked bikes with both feet down. The rear brake does nearly all of the work at that speed. The Organic compound on the AGPP91 pad is made for this kind of use, Accossato crediting it with a long life and with going easy on the disc. The Special is listed for 2018 and 2019.
Key Features
- Rear pads for the Ducati Scrambler 1100 Special, article AGPP91OR
- Organic compound, the gentlest of the three offered on this pad
- Accossato's claim: it lasts, and it spares the disc
- Suited to slow manoeuvring, ride-outs and short journeys
- Catalogue years 2018 and 2019
- The rear caliper takes one box of two pads
- Firmer materials on the same plate: ST and STMX
- No German ABE available; competition and track use
Construction and Material Quality
An organic mixture is the quiet member of any pad range, and its virtues are patience and restraint: it goes on working for a long time and takes less material out of the disc while doing so. The rear disc of a Scrambler 1100 Special is exposed to everything the back wheel throws at it, so anything that slows its wear is welcome. The compound sits on the standard AGPP91 plate, unchanged from the harder versions, and a box contains the two pads the single rear caliper needs. Under sustained heavy use a racing material will do more, but that is not the job here.
Rolling Between Parked Bikes
Watch the car park at a bike meeting and you will see the rear brake used more in ten minutes than in the hour of riding before it. Feet down, clutch slipping, a gentle drag on the pedal to keep everything steady while the front wheel is turned hard over and somebody's mirror is a hand's width away. A Scrambler 1100 Special is manageable in that situation, narrow at the waist and easy to place, but it still asks its rider to balance a fair weight at no speed at all, and the rear brake is what makes that possible. The demand is not heat, it is patience: hundreds of light applications, often against a wet or dusty disc. The maintenance that pays off is the unglamorous sort. Free off the caliper slides once a year, keep the pedal linkage clean so that the brake releases fully, and watch for chain lubricant thrown onto the disc, which will ruin new pads faster than any amount of riding.
Fitment and Compatibility
This pad belongs to the rear wheel of the Scrambler 1100 Special of 2018 and 2019 as Accossato catalogues it. One caliper, one box, no counting needed. The front of the same machine takes the AGPA177 in whichever of the four compounds suits the way it is ridden, and the DK008 and DKS053 appear as the discs for this Special. Other Scrambler variants and later years are listed under their own entries.
Road Approval
There is no German ABE for the AGPP91OR here, nor any other approval, so the pads are sold for track and competition use.
Scope of Delivery
One box containing two AGPP91 rear pads in the Organic material.
