DescriptionThe whole story▼
The rear brake of a Ducati Panigale V4 Superleggera leads a quiet life next to the front. It trims speed in the pit lane, steadies the bike while the rider shuffles it out of the garage and takes a light touch on the way into a slow corner. The Organic compound on the AGPA42 rear pad suits that job. Accossato says it gives longer performance and goes easy on the disc, which is the sort of virtue that counts on a wheel whose brake is worked with the sole of a boot rather than with four fingers. Catalogue years are 2020 to 2024.
Key Features
- Rear pads for the Ducati Panigale V4 Superleggera, 2020 to 2024, article number AGPA42OR
- Organic compound, the gentlest material Accossato lists on this pad
- The maker's claim for it: a longer service life with less wear on the disc
- Suited to the light, frequent use a rear brake gets on a machine of this kind
- Two pads in the box, the full set for the single rear caliper
- The harder alternatives on the same plate are ST and ZXC
- Change the pair together and bed them in gently
- No German ABE in our files; sold for track and competition use
Construction and Material Quality
Two claims come with the Organic material and they belong together: it lasts, and it is kind to the disc it runs against. Rear discs are small, they sit low where the road throws everything at them, and replacing one is a job nobody enjoys, so a pad that grinds away less of it earns its keep over a season. The friction material is carried on the standard AGPA42 plate, identical to the one under the harder compounds, and the rear caliper of the Panigale V4 Superleggera takes the two pads that come in the box. What this material will not do is match a race compound under sustained heavy pressure; it was never drawn for that.
What the Back Brake Is For Here
Ask ten riders what they use the rear brake for on a machine of this kind and you will get ten answers, most of them quiet ones. Holding the bike on a slope with the engine running while a marshal waves a group past. Dabbing the pedal in the pit lane to stay under the speed limit without touching the front. Settling the chassis as the throttle closes at the start of a long corner, a touch so small that a pillion would never feel it, if this Ducati had one. Walking the Panigale V4 Superleggera backwards down the ramp out of a van. None of that generates much heat and all of it happens often. Trouble at the back of a bike usually arrives as neglect rather than as wear: one pad worn through because a caliper has seized on its slide, chain lubricant flung onto the disc, a pedal that no longer returns cleanly. When the pads are out, clean around the pistons before you press them back, wipe the disc with a proper cleaner rather than an oily rag, and work the pedal several times before the bike moves so the pads are up against the disc again.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the AGPA42 as the rear pad for the Superleggera V4 over the model years 2020 to 2024. One caliper at the back means one box does the whole job, which makes this the simpler half of a brake service on the Panigale V4 Superleggera. At the front, the same catalogue offers the AGPA106 in four materials, and the DKS036 is the disc Accossato names for the bike. Nothing here applies to other Panigale models.
Road Approval
No German ABE exists for the AGPA42OR as far as our paperwork goes, and no other approval either; the pads are meant for the track and for competition.
Scope of Delivery
One box with two AGPA42 rear pads in the Organic material.
