DescriptionThe whole story▼
Not every Panigale V2 955 lives for the circuit. Some are ridden to work when the forecast allows, threaded through a town centre at walking pace and parked nose-out in a bay that is always slightly uphill. In that life the rear brake is a balance control rather than a stopping device. Accossato presses the AGPA42 rear pad in the Organic material, article AGPA42OR, and lists it for this twin from 2020 to 2024. The maker says the Organic compound lasts well in service and is easy on the disc it works against.
Key Features
- Rear brake pads for the Ducati Panigale V2 955, 2020 to 2024
- Article AGPA42OR: the AGPA42 pad in Accossato's Organic material
- Accossato promises a long service life and gentle treatment of the disc
- Suits a bike used on the road at low speed as well as at pace
- The V2 has one caliper at the back, so one box completes the job
- Two pads in that box, the pair a single caliper closes onto
- The same rear pad is also pressed as ST and as ZXC
- No German ABE recorded; supplied for competition use
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato puts two ideas behind the Organic material: it should keep working for a long time, and it should go easy on the disc. The second half is often the more valuable one at the back of a sports bike, where a small disc and a single caliper do a modest amount of work over many seasons and the disc itself is rarely thought about until it is too thin. The pad body is the standard AGPA42, identical across the suffixes, so it drops into the rear caliper of a Panigale V2 955 the way the old one came out.
Walking Pace and Junctions
Slow riding is where a superbike feels least at home and where the rear brake earns its place. Coming off a roundabout into stop-start traffic, a light, steady pressure on the pedal keeps a V2 settled while the throttle hand does something equally delicate. The same is true of a full-lock turn in a car park, of a downhill queue at a set of temporary lights, and of the moment when you back the bike out of a space with both feet down. None of it produces much heat; all of it asks for a pedal that gives a predictable amount of drag from the first touch.
Rear pads on the Panigale V2 955 tend to be forgotten because they last. Put them on the list anyway: look at what is left of the friction layer when the chain gets adjusted, and glance at the rear disc for a lip at its outer edge. Keep chain lubricant away from that disc, since the rear one collects it more easily than anything at the front, and after any work at the back press the pedal until resistance returns before rolling out.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato names the AGPA42 for the rear wheel of the Panigale V2 955 between 2020 and 2024, the Troy Bayliss version shared with the standard bike. There is a single caliper back there, so one box is a complete rear change. The front of the same machine takes the AGPA177 across those years, and the disc catalogue lists the DK008, the DK053 and the DKS035 for this model. Other Panigale twins are not part of this entry.
Road Approval
Our records contain no ABE and no German test report for this article, so it is offered for competition and closed-course use.
Scope of Delivery
One box, two AGPA42 pads in the Organic material, which is everything the single rear caliper of the Panigale V2 955 needs.
