DescriptionThe whole story▼
A Hyperstrada 821 spends a good part of its life in traffic, because the qualities that make it a pleasant tourer also make it a good way across a city: narrow through the waist, upright at the bars, tall enough to see over the roofs of cars. In that work the back brake is used constantly and gently, dozens of times an hour and almost never hard. Accossato's AGPA42 rear pad in the Organic (OR) compound is built for those conditions and covers the Hyperstrada 821 from 2013 to 2016.
Key Features
- Rear pads for the Ducati Hyperstrada 821, 2013 to 2016, ABS included
- AGPA42 shape in the Organic (OR) compound, article number AGPA42OR
- Accossato names long service life and care for the disc
- Two pads per box, which completes the single rear caliper
- Suited to commuting, traffic and low-speed manoeuvring
- Firmer all-weather and ceramic competition versions exist in the same shape
- AGPA177 is the front pad for this bike, two boxes for two calipers
- No ABE on file; sold for competition and closed circuits
Construction and Material Quality
Two claims come from Accossato for the organic AGPA42: a long useful life, and restraint in the way it treats the disc it works against. Both speak to the same owner, the one who counts the price of a rear disc alongside the price of pads. This is the mildest material offered in this shape and it does not pretend otherwise. Its job is to be pleasant and durable in ordinary use rather than to stand up to repeated heavy work. One box, two pads, and the single rear caliper of the Hyperstrada 821 is complete.
Filtering, Stopping, Setting Off Again
City riding is a sequence of small decisions taken slowly. You roll towards a queue with a finger over the front lever and the right boot resting on the pedal, trim a fraction of speed to slot between two cars, hold the machine still while the lights change, then release and go. On a Hyperstrada 821 carrying a topbox and a passenger the back brake also does the balancing at walking pace, which is exactly where a light, progressive material is easier to live with than one waiting for heat that never arrives. Both pads in the caliper wear together and are renewed together; look at what is left whenever the rear wheel comes out for a chain or tyre job.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato puts the AGPA42 at the rear of the Ducati Hyperstrada 821 for 2013 to 2016, the ABS version included, and one box is the entire rear axle. The front of the bike wants the AGPA177 twice over, two calipers being fitted there. Should the Hyperstrada 821 also see circuits, this rear shape comes in an all-weather and a ceramic competition material as well, and the front discs are catalogued as DK053 and DKS053.
Road Approval
There is no ABE on file for the AGPA42OR and no other document that would let us call it a part for the public road. It is sold for competition and closed-circuit use.
Scope of Delivery
Two Accossato AGPA42 pads in the Organic (OR) compound, packed as one box, the full set for the rear caliper.
