DescriptionThe whole story▼
Between the weekend rides, a BMW R 12 nineT does plenty of unglamorous work: out of the garage, down a gravel drive, into town, round a multi-storey car park at walking pace, backwards into a bay with both feet down. Almost all of that happens on the rear brake. Accossato builds its AGPA29 rear pad for the 2024 to 2026 boxer in the Organic (OR) compound, the mildest material in the range and the one aimed at exactly this half of a bike's life.
Key Features
- Rear brake pads for the BMW R 12 nineT, model years 2024 to 2026
- Organic (OR) version of the AGPA29 shape, article number AGPA29OR
- Accossato promises a long working life and gentle treatment of the disc
- One rear caliper, one box: two pads
- The same shape is also made in the ST, STMX and EV1 materials
- The front wheel of this bike is covered by the AGPA177 pad
- Suited to town riding, slow manoeuvres and everyday distances
- No German ABE available to us; sold for competition use
Construction and Material Quality
The AGPA29 plate is produced in several materials and this article number carries the organic one, which Accossato sums up in two short claims: it lasts, and it is kind to the disc. Both count for more at the rear than at the front. A rear disc is slim, it sits in the dirtiest corner of the bike, and replacing it costs several times what a set of pads costs, so a material that takes its time removing metal is worth having. Pads of this kind also tend to go about their work quietly, which you notice in a car park where every sound echoes. The box holds two pads, all that the single rear caliper wants.
The Rear Pedal in a City Week
Slow riding is a skill built on the rear brake. A light, steady drag against a little throttle keeps a tall machine settled at walking pace, lets it turn inside its own length, and holds it still on a car park ramp while a barrier makes up its mind. Let the pedal go altogether and the bike lurches; that lurch is how most low-speed drops begin. Used this way the pads never get hot, but they rub a great deal, and a mild material is happier in that role than a hard one that wants warmth before it works properly. On the R 12 nineT the rear wheel runs behind a shaft rather than a chain, so the disc stays cleaner than on many machines, though road grit still finds a way in. Rinse the rear wheel with plain water when you wash the bike, keep a pressure washer away from the caliper, and look at the free play under your boot now and then.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's list for the AGPA29 names the R12 1200 nine T of 2024 to 2026 and no other machine, and on that bike a single box does the whole job, because one caliper works the rear wheel. Three more materials share the plate: ST for wet-weather distance, STMX for unsurfaced ground, EV1 for riders who visit circuits. At the front of the R 12 nineT the range offers the AGPA177 across the same three model years. No Accossato disc is catalogued for this model.
Road Approval
Approval papers for the AGPA29OR, a German ABE among them, are not in our hands. The pad is therefore sold for competition use rather than for the public road.
Scope of Delivery
One box with two AGPA29 pads in the Organic (OR) compound, which fills the rear caliper.
