Somewhere between the road and the campsite, a BMW R nineT Scrambler ends up being paddled about on loose ground with the rider's boots down. Gravel car parks, a rutted field entrance, a slope outside a mountain hut: this is where the back brake does its most useful work, in small doses, at walking pace. Accossato's AGPA29 rear pad in the Organic compound suits that undemanding but constant duty, and is listed for the Scrambler from 2016 to 2023.

Construction and Material Quality
Two claims are made for this material and both suit the back of a motorcycle. It lasts, and it is kind to the disc it works against. Rear discs are exposed, often thinner than those at the front, and they spend their lives being sprayed with whatever the back wheel picks up, so a compound that does not grind them away is doing something worth paying for. The other half of the story is temperature: this kind of material works from cold, which is the condition a rear brake is in almost every time it is used. A box supplies the pair the caliper takes.
Loose Ground at Walking Pace
Manoeuvring a tall twin over gravel is a matter of balance and very small brake inputs. The front brake is close to useless here, because any bite at the front wheel on a loose surface tips the bike towards the ground it is trying to cross. The rear pedal does the opposite: a steady drag against a slipping clutch holds the machine upright, keeps the speed where your feet can deal with it, and lets you place the R nineT Scrambler exactly where you want it. Riders who tour with luggage use the same trick on a slope while they get the stand down. None of it works with a brake that grabs. Look after it in the way that is easy to forget: the rear caliper collects the worst of the dirt, so wash it out after a dusty trip, check the pad thickness whenever the wheel is off for a tyre, and clean the pistons before pushing them back for a fresh set.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists this rear pad for the R nineT Scrambler of 2016 to 2023 and for no other years of the model. The bike has a single rear caliper and one box fills it. At the front the AGPA96 covers the same period in the same choice of materials, and the firm's disc programme names the DK006 and the DK007 for this machine.
Road Approval
We hold neither a German ABE nor any other approval for this rear pad, and it is therefore supplied for competition and for use away from public roads.
