DescriptionThe whole story▼
Much of what the rear brake of a BMW K1600 GTL does happens below walking pace. Turning a long six-cylinder around in a narrow hotel yard, backing it off a camber, holding it still while a passenger climbs aboard: all of that runs through the right foot. Accossato's AGPA92 outline covers the rear wheel of the K1600 GTL from 2011 to 2026, and this article number pairs it with the Organic (OR) material, the quiet and undramatic end of the range.
Key Features
- Rear brake pads for the BMW K1600 GTL, 2011 to 2026
- AGPA92 pad outline in the Organic (OR) material, article number AGPA92OR
- Listed for the GTL Exclusive as well
- Accossato says the material lasts a long time and is gentle on the disc
- Two pads per box, which is one rear caliper's worth
- Four further materials share this outline: ST, EV1, EV2 and ZXC
- Up front, the same tourer is served by the AGPA57
- No German ABE documented; offered for track and competition
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato mills one outline and then offers it with a choice of friction materials; AGPA92OR is the version wearing the organic mixture. The claim made for it is measured: it keeps delivering over a long service life and is easy on the brake disc. That second half matters more than it sounds. A rear disc on a heavy tourer is not a cheap part, and a material that works with it rather than against it stretches the interval between disc changes. The company adds that its pads stay clear of fade because it keeps the heat they build within limits. Two pads come in the box, the amount one caliper swallows.
At Walking Pace in the Hotel Yard
Manoeuvring is where a big tourer feels heaviest. You are off the seat or paddling with both feet, the steering is near full lock, and the machine wants to fall towards the low side of the yard. Experienced K1600 GTL riders let the clutch slip a little, keep a trickle of throttle and drag the rear brake with the toe, which tightens the turn and stops the bike lurching. Done often enough, that habit puts more heat into a rear pad than the lack of speed would suggest. Noise becomes a question too, since a rear brake that groans in a quiet courtyard early in the morning is nobody's friend. The soft character of the organic mixture suits this work, and on loose gravel its gentler bite is easier to meter through a boot.
Fitment and Compatibility
The catalogue shows the AGPA92 at the back of the K 1600 GTL for model years 2011 to 2026, Exclusive included. One box equals one rear caliper, and this bike has a single caliper back there, so a rear change takes one box. Both pads are renewed together, never one alone. With the old pair out, measure how much friction material is left on them against the metal plate, feel the outer edge of the disc for a lip and give the pistons a wipe before they go back. Accossato names the AGPA57 for the front of the same machine across 2011 to 2026.
Road Approval
Nothing in the way of a German ABE or a test certificate has reached us for the AGPA92OR. Without such papers we can only offer it for closed circuits and competition, not for the road.
Scope of Delivery
Two Accossato AGPA92 pads in the Organic (OR) material, boxed together as one rear caliper's set.
