DescriptionThe whole story▼
Ask ten riders what the rear brake does on a circuit and you will get ten answers, most of them quiet ones. On an HP4 Race 1000 it is used in small doses: a touch to settle the chassis on the way into a corner, a steadying drag on a bumpy exit, a firmer push in the pit lane. The pedal is rarely stamped on. Accossato's AGPA292 in the Organic (OR) compound suits that pattern, and suits the owner of a carbon-framed BMW from 2017 or 2018 who wants the rear to carry on working for season after season.
Key Features
- Rear brake pads for the BMW HP4 Race 1000, model years 2017 and 2018
- Shape AGPA292 in the Organic (OR) material, ordered as AGPA292OR
- Accossato speaks of a long working life and of sparing the disc
- Two pads in the box, which completes the single rear caliper
- Three further materials cover the same rear shape
- The front of this machine is served by the AGPA137
- No German ABE in our files; sold for track and competition riding
Construction and Material Quality
The AGPA292 plate is common to every version of this rear pad; the material on its face is what you choose. Accossato sums up the organic one in a sentence: it keeps performing for longer and it limits the wear it inflicts on the disc. Neither half of that promise is dramatic, and neither is meant to be. A rear brake used sparingly and precisely does not need a material drawn for a hard stop from top speed, it needs one that stays predictable under the boot and does not quietly eat a disc that has to survive a decade of track days. The box contains the pair a rear caliper takes.
How the Rear Earns Its Keep on Track
The rear brake on a circuit machine works in a narrow band, and that band is mostly about attitude rather than deceleration. A short press as the bike falls into a fast corner stops the front from running wide; a light drag through a long right keeps the chassis loaded; a deliberate push on the way down pit lane keeps the speed legal without disturbing a hot front end. Some riders barely touch it. Others build a rhythm around it and wear a set out in a season. Either way, the checks are the same and take a minute. Look at the pad thickness through the caliper opening when the bike is on its stand, feel whether the pedal has the same free travel it had in the spring, and keep the rear disc clear of chain lubricant, which finds its way there more easily than anywhere else on the bike.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato catalogues the AGPA292 for the rear wheel of the HP4 Race 1000 built in 2017 and 2018. One caliper does the work back there, so a single box completes the job, though the pads still belong in as a pair. The same rear shape exists in three other materials, among them the ST and EV1 versions for riders who use the pedal harder, and the front of the bike is covered by the AGPA137 across the same two years. There is no Accossato disc listed for this model.
Road Approval
No approval document and no German ABE exists in our records for the AGPA292OR. Since the HP4 Race 1000 is itself a machine for closed circuits, the question of public roads hardly arises; the pads are supplied for track and competition use.
Scope of Delivery
A box of two Accossato AGPA292 pads in the Organic (OR) compound, which is the full set for the rear caliper.
